"Powers" comic

Hey, has anyone read this new book "Powers"? It's written by Brian Michael Bendis (of "Jinx") and illustrated by Mike Avon Oeming, who also did the excellent little-seen book "Ship of Fools". It's about a "normal" homicide detective who investigates the murder of superpowered beings. The art is reminiscent of the Batman animated series, with blocky characters and the same muted color pallette. Pretty cool stuff. Bendis does that sort of storytelling style where there's sometimes two different simultaneous stories being told on the page and they merge at the end. His dialogue is also excellent. The second issue just came out, so the first shouldnt be too hard to find either. It's published by Image (yet it is not flashy crap -- strange). It has the Unofficial Dave Davis Stamp of Approval, guaranteed or no money back!

Sounds cool. I started writing something exactly like that, but stopped cause it sucked. Glad somebody else did it well.

Bendis is great, his Sam & Twitch storyline had a great cinematic feel.

Love his dialogue.

Another cool thing about Bendis is that in the AKA Goldfish afterword he tells all his readers to interject Bendis into common dialogue whenever possible.

Later, in an issue of 'Stray Bullets', someone wrote a response letter and one of the lines in there was "I laughed so hard my bendis hurt!"

That was funny.
