Alright, here's the deal. Everyone at some point has said they would want to be a superhero. Most would pick someone like Superman (obvious reasons). You could do pretty much anything you please and save the world a time or two, assuming we faced world threats (haven't seen many invading alien armies of Apokolips lately). But, basically, Superman's powers don't grant you any great intelligence or insight. He can't cure diseases or such.
In light of this, the ultimate superhero would be Forge. As described, he can build anything he wants if given the time and materials. Who wouldn't want that power? You could build machines to clean cancerous cells from the body, or microscopic robots that would repair the human body on a molecular level, helping to ease suffering and improve the human condition.
If you want, you could build a machine that would give you super strength or invulnerability.
He would obviously be quite wealthy, as he could patent and sell his concepts for billions. What more could you ask for?
