A quick opinion

Michael Ploog is the most underrated comics artists of the seventies. His work on the marvel monster line of comic books -- Ghost Rider, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, the early issues of The Monster of Frankenstein -- were just fantastic. Rich and wonderfully detailed, worthy of the EC horror and crime comics and Will Eisner's the Spirt. He doesn't get the credit and respect he is due.

I wish I knew enough to agree with you, but I certainly appreciate your admiration.

If you're not familiar with his comics work you might know his art from the black and white still scenes from the Ralph Bakshi animated fantasy Wizards. He also worked with John Carpenter as the storyboard artist for The Thing.

I like his Werewolf By Night stuff and his movie conceptual art's good.

Ploog is great, like a cross between Frazetta and the guy who draws Calvin and hobbes.
