Anyone else anticipating ABYSS: Special Edition?

Man, no DVD on the horizon has me more excited than this one (with the possible exception of FIGHT CLUB and a likely INDIANA JONES trilogy release).

My Dad has the laserdisc version, but it looks like the DVD (as usual) will put the laserdisc to shame in sound/audio quality and extras.

Too bad James Cameron is an ignorant prick and wont allow Anamorphic transfers of his films (he barely even allows them to be released in letterbox!!)

Abyss is his best film (even better than Pirahna 2). I am anxious for the DVD.

Count me in on this one! I love the Abyss. I pretend the movie ends as soon as the message (being cryptic to avoid a spoiler) that his wife has always wanted to hear is delivered by Ed Harris.

Even with the director's cut? I thought it rectified all!

I haven't seen the director's cut ... did Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio give that to him? I always heard she only used blunt instruments.

Ya know. I've sat through the last 30 minutes about 10 times now, and not once have I seen the beginning. Always by coincidence, I walk in right at the end. The first time, it was at the theater. I really should rent that, I guess.

The Director's Cut is the ONLY version of this film that matters. Seriously. The extra 25 minutes makes the film night and day.

The Abyss went from an 8 to a 10+ with the Director's Cut, in my opinion.

Thankfully, the DVD will have both versions, so one could watch the standard release, or watch the Director's Cut (the REAL film) via seamless branching.
