First Rule of Fight Club:

Don't talk about Fight Club.

I'm about to blow this one.

If you have never read the novel that the film was based on, do it. DO IT NOW!! Run out to the nearest 24 hour bookstore and steal a copy if you have to. This film is one of, if not the best, book adaptation ever.

Never have I seen a book adaptation that stayed so close to the source material. So much of the stuff that adaptations usually lose (inner monologue, secondary characters, and original dialogue) remains in this film.
I read the novel, in like two days, and I was so jazzed about the movie that I could hardly wait. Knowing the twist ending was the best part, because you get to sit there and watch it dawn on the faces of your fellow moviegoers.

David Fincher did an outstanding job, bringing this anarchistic masterpiece to the silver screen. I had the same feeling watching his film as I did reading Palahniuk's novel. Especially at the end. I just wanted to run out and blow something up!!!! Just kidding, FBI.

Seriously though, both novel and film packed such an adrenaline rush, such a desire to see what the end result was for all of the characters involved, that I was practically high when I left the theater. The coolest thing was, because of the synergy between the film and the novel, I could ascertain whether certain of my friends would like it or not just after reading the book.

As you can tell by the abnormally long length of this rant, I loved this movie. I am so thrilled to know that there is going to be a comentary by the author of the novel on the disc, because I long to hear what he has to think about the visual translation of his printed work. I also can't wait to freeze frame it and see all of the subliminal images I missed in the theater.

Second rule of Fight Club:

Do not talk about Fight Club

Fight Club was my favorite movie of the year. I saw it in the theater 4 times.

I also must concur with my pal chenzzo (also known as Vinnie the Chin), the book is awesome! I'm only half way through it, but it definitely enhances the movie a lot.
