Wonder why the Columbine dvd has been pushed back? That pisses me off because that is on my must have list and was hoping to get it in April as I had several people I was going to share with

According to the following link Boling for Colombine isn't coming out until:

JANUARY 1ST 2010!!! <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008HE44/qid=1048631558/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2_2/702-4474005-8023228" target="_blank">http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008HE44/qid=1048631558/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2_2/702-4474005-8023228</a>

(Must be the Canadian release date. wink )

When something has been anounced and then pulled, sometimes they will invent a far, far away date for it's release until a new one is announced.

Are they planning on milking an extended theatrical run from the Oscar?

breaking records? tis a sad, sad day in dvd land.

Have you even seen the movie?

Blowing out first week sales has become the new big thing, even with mild hits, like The Ring (which supposedly had record numbers its first week too). It looks like people are aware that the big guys (like Best Buy and Fry's and the like) generally do first week discounts, which Pavlovianly have boosted numbers.

Oh, okay. Good. And glad to know you are the almighty opinion of "DVD Land."

That being said, good for Eminem. An Oscar and record DVD sales. Coolness.

bumping this thread for fun, I can't believe I even found an 8 Mile thread after that server crash that lost a lot of old shit. I've been getting back into Em lately, & I've had the battles from this movie on heavy rotation on the tv. 8 Mile is totally conventional with its storytelling, but Eminem was in his prime during this period, & he has some great rhymes all through the movie (So I'm a German, eh? That's ok, you look like a fuckin' worm with braids!). Plus, there is a shitload of killer '90s hip hop present: Player's Ball, Shook Ones II, Insane in the Membrane, etc.

Sorry I can't give credit where it's due, but someone on the boards(or possibly the main page) once said this is the Rocky of Hip Hop Movies, and Hustle and Flow is the Raging Bull. I've got to agree.
Fun flick, and I'm amazed Eminem hasn't done more acting, he isn't bad(as opposed to motherfucking 50 Cent).

If I'm not mistaken, you're referring to when Devin reviewed HUSTLE & FLOW. I think he said that if 8 MILE is ROCKY, then HUSTLE & FLOW is RAGING BULL. That is totally on point.

ETA: 50 is garbage. His first album is a classic, but only because the production was top-tier.

You're probably correct, it's been a while since I read the review. He hit the nail on the head though.

I have to be honest I really dug this movie. I watched this under duress, sitting there getting ready to hate the fuck out of it. Won me over. Not a fan of Eminem's music but I thought he was uber-charisma in this and the final ten minutes worked beautifully. Has one of the more awesome sex scenes Ive seen for a while.
Second the Rocky Of Music idea.
