Jeez, I didn't want to like this film. I only went because my girlfriend gave me a choice between this and The Grinch tonight.

So, what the hell happened? How did Disney let a film this good get through their clutches? No musical numbers. No cute animal mascots. A short and to-the-point plot that NEVER gets significantly sentimental. David Spade being the funniest he has ever been on screen. Patrick Warburton showing that he MUST be The Tick, and being funny as hell.

Seriously, it's a damn good movie. It's more like an old Chuck Jones/Mel Blanc/Warner Bros. cartoon than anything Disney-like.

well, i haven't seen it, but from the ads, i'd say it seemed like a rush job.

and this is a good thing.

less time disney spends brooding over the jokes they think won't work or getting their public-relations people (AKA scum of the earth) on it equals more just-plain-funny goodness.

if what you say is true, then all disney cartoons would probably be better off if they whipped them out like they did this time... (as opposed to the same old crap that was Mulan, Pocohontas, Lion King II...)

i bet the writers got away with more than they normally would have, since this seems like a desperate release. funny.
