Ryan Gosling is a terrific young actor, and will be terrific if he chooses his roles carefully in the future.
I believe it won Best Film at some Film Festival, but it's name escapes me...

Just watched this. My wife and I love Gosling and are watching some of his lesser known films, ready for Drive.
I enjoyed it, though it strikes my as one of those films where the central performance is so good it elevates the perceived quality of the film. Not that it isn't well made, but I kept waiting for more. Gosling brings it in some serious monologues but there wasn't enough in there to explain Danny's mindset, just as the film gets going it sort of stops. American History X is an obvious comparison but it's apt. That film allowed enough time to justify Norton coming around, whereas this felt a little muddled. Sorry this isn't a great post, I'm tired.
But again, Gosling is electric in it.
