For the curious, the list:

1. "Born To Run," Bruce Springsteen
2. "Abbey Road," the Beatles
3. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," the Beatles
4. "The Joshua Tree," U2
5. "The White Album," The Beatles
6. "Kind of Blue," Miles Davis
7. "Darkness on the Edge of Town," Bruce Springsteen
8. "Revolver," the Beatles
9. "Dark Side of the Moon," Pink Floyd
10. "Achtung Baby," U2

Interesting that my two least favorite U2 albums made the top ten.

2 springsteen albums, 2 U2 albums, and 4 goddamn Beatle albums? they should have diversified a little more. I think Zagat should just stick to reviewing restaurants

Di ver si fy.

The only "risky" choice was a Miles Davis CD. And Bruce as No. 1? All I can say is "No".

I agree about Zeppelin being somewhere in the top 10, probably for Physical Graffiti, the best rock album of the last 33 years.

The Beatles Sgt Peppers and Revolver are great and influential records that deserve to be in the top ten.

As for Springsteen I dont like his music,it's just way to American centric for me to relate to it.

Keep in mind that Zagat's is the publication that routinely names Olive Garden as the best restaurant in [town x]. It's like a survey thing. Opinions of the masses.

Z, if thats the case (I'll take your word for it) then the abscence of Zeppelin is even more puzzling since they are the second highest selling band of all time.

Everybody knows that "Armed Forces" by Elvis Costello is the best rock album of all time.

The Miles Davis record is on there because it's the one Miles Davis record that everybody owns so they can put on a little jazz when trying to get laid. They'd much rather be listening to something like Dave Matthews, but you have to try and pretend to have a clue once in a while, and I don't hate Dave Matthews, I just think most of his fans are profoundly bland people.

Zep should be on here for sure.
