It's finally coming out on DVD next week. I wore my VHS copy out watching it so much. This is a great concert. Pink Floyd at their psychadelic best. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing this remastered. Hopefully the Pulse DVD isn't far behind.

Looks pretty cool, I'll be sure to get this. Or that DSOTM documentary...

Edit: I was looking at reviews for this at Amazon, and somebody mentioned that Kubrick wanted to use Echoes in 2001, but Floyd turned him down. How could this be, since 2001 came out in 1968, and Meddle was 1971. It would've been awesome, but smells like BS.

I've never heard that before about Kubrick.

Absolutely brilliant! It looks and sounds amazing. Now I realize how horrible the VHS transfer really was.

It's so crystal clear now I felt like I was back there again. During the Gulf War we stopped in Naples for a few weeks and I made a pilgrimage to Pompeii. I made a point to see the images in the movie for myself.

I hope you picked this up over the documentary Kyle or got both. This is an absolute must have!

Holy crap, why did I not hear about this DVD?

Kubrick wanted to use Atom Heart Mother. He wanted free reign over how to use the music. I believe it was for Clockwork Orange actually. The non moog Beethoven parts.

The version of "Saucerful" is amazing.

That's the first I've heard of that. They should have let him that would have been interesting.

Mademoiselle Nobs is really cool too. They should have taken her on tour with them.

I got this today and I love it. Pompeii is the perfect location for PF to play their music. You watch PF play and it somehow *fits* that they should choose to play there. Echoes is just an epic fucking song and PF really play the hell out of it here, Gilmour really fucking nails it with his solo's and also his rhythm playing, especially during the second half of the song. I really like the way the camera is panning around and occasionally cutting to Gilmour and Mason. The other songs were just as impressive but the highlight for me was definitely Echoes, far and away.
During 'One of these days' Nick is banging the drums so hard, his drumstick goes flying but he doesn't miss a thing and quickly pulls out a spare and continues like nothing's happened, I found that quite amusing.
I thought the interviews were also quite interesting. That said, this DVD is fucking epic, just like PF's music.

I ordered this, but haven't recieved it yet. How does One of These Days sound? I always thought the mix was off on the VHS because you couldn't really hear Gilmore's guitar after the One of These Days... line. Just wondering if that was fixed for the DVD remaster.

Compared to the other tracks, it sounds kind of muddled. It's not bad but it's not great either. I haven't heard the VHS version so I can't compare but it still sounds off.

I still haven't found this disc anywhere. Oh, how I wish I had the money to get it off of Amazon.

Just got it! It's better than I had hoped, and One of these Days sounds way better than on the VHS. PINK FLOYD RULES THE EARTH!
