I have to admit that the "White Flag" single really got me in.
The song has a nice tune to it and she looks great in the video, the longer hair makes her be way more attractive for me. It's nice to see that a young female artist can sell dozens of records without undressing or promising filthy things.
For the album,
01 - White Flag is the best song of the album, you'll know it.
02 - Stoned is strange. It makes you feel strange. Tired and dazed, I think (never been).
03 - Life for Rent - a truly boring song.
04 - Mary's in India is without any doubt one of the most boring songs ever made. It sets a new landmark for being slow. The opposite of spectacular. If you really need to sleep one night, put this thing on - you won't even need to set it to loop.
05 - See you when you're 40 is way faster, but doesn't pass a Norah Jones tempo limit. A good song for pairs, nice and warm.
06 - Don't leave home will probably be the next single. It's okay.
07 - Who makes you feel is a hardcore Dido dance song. I'm kidding. It's a slow and very silent song. A little bit melancholic. I like it.
08 - Sand in my shoes sounds like A-ha. I like A-ha. A midtempo popsong with very few instrumentals. The fastest on the album, still nothing to dance (you can move your head a little bit, I noticed that on the people in my house). A really entertaining song for people who like their life very slow.
09 - Do you have a little time sounds very grown. I can see her smile she has singing this song, and I really like it.
10 - Sounds like a folk song. If peace would be pure music, it would be this song (and if peace would look like her, I'd marry peace).
11 - See the sun is an energy Dido song. Comparable to the last Pantera and Ill Nino albums.
In Dido-measurements. After some time, there's another hidden song, that is quite nice.
All in all, I was a little bit disappointed.
I really like her voice, but this album is really too slow. It has some interesting songs and her quiet songs really work, but it's just too extreme. White Flag stands out as the most catchy and listenable song, most of the other songs can be considered as "background music", "music to have sex by" or "music to listen for long travels".
