What is the coolest song you've heard "covered" by a marching band?

for me it was hearing the theme to Cowboy Bebop.

I thought "Finally, some one gets it!"

The ND band once went straight from George Gershwin into Nirvana during a halftime show. Simply bizarre.

Our cross-town rival once did "Thunderstruck". That was pretty cool. Brought in an electric guitar player and everything.

There's no electric guitars in marching band.

My High School Band used to do Sweet Child of Mine.

Well, to be accurate, it was the pep band that did the Thunderstruck cover.

And the marching band I was in brought in an electric guitar for Purple Haze cover...

That's cool, then. Pep band was always a good time in college, we also covered Purple Haze (sans electric guitar, add electric bass). Favorite cover in college has to go to Chameleon by Herbie Hancock. That was a rockin' tune.

By the way, digger, what instrument did you play?

We did theme music for Batman, Raiders, Superman, etc. Those I had the most fun on.

Then, my private tutor worked on getting me to play "Flight of The Bumble Bee". I nearly crapped my pants.

I would love to hear that song at halftime.

Did they use a bass guitar, or did the just use the the tuba section?

I downloaded a bunch of German Military marches off Kazaa, it's pretty good stuff, really powerfull martial music.
My favourite would be The Radetzky March by Strauss ,anyone else heard it?.

My favorites were "Carry on My Wayward Son" (cause the tubas got the kick ass guitar solo), "Iron Man" (because the tubas got the bass riff), and "Beetlejuice" (because it's an awesome tuba theme).

Guess what? I played the tuba.
