I've only read her shorts. Um ... stories, not undergarments -- sorry. Had to clarify. Are the novels any good?

Is that new Winona Ryder film "Lost Souls" based on her novel of the same name?

Her novels are very good, Exquisite Corpse (whatta a title!) was very disturbing, it's about a serial killer. The Winona movie (thankfully) is not based on her book, her book Lost Souls is vampire themed, it's quite good, I'm bummed about her newest stuff (a collection called Are You Loathesopme Tonight), it's only been released as one of those ultra rare collectors editions and sells for at least $75, which is pretty shitty.

And my favorite, Dan Simmons (see other thread), wrote the introduction to one of her early short-story collections -- I believe it was called Wormwood.

I have two of her novels -- Lost Souls and another one I can't recall the title -- but haven't read 'em yet.

She's heavy into the goth-androgyny-gay thing, which I find cool about once a year. Last year it was the cyber-punk 'Dead Girls' and 'Dead Boys' by *mumbles*thsklje*mumbles some more*. I've read her stuff and I enjoyed it, but I get the sense that she feels, deep down, that evil is cool.

It's not that this bothers me, it's that I am dumb enough to be confused at that point as to whom I should root for.

I guess I don't do well with gray areas.

'His Mouth Will Taste of Wormwood' is one of my favorite Southern Gothic stories of all time, though.

I dunno about her feeling evil is cool, but she do love her gay boy-girl characters. I think she's great at very moody dark atmosphere, my favorite short story is the 6th Sentinel, a very nifty twisty ghost story. Have you seen the photo shoots she did w/ JK Potter? They're very good and completely suit her gothy image
