My spousal unit and I read to our children a great deal. Last night, my daughter (2-years of age) got upset with me when I was doing some pleasure reading because I wasn't "talking to the book."

HAH!

Stop reading to your kids, that's what my mother did to me and look how I turned out.

I hold you in mind as my primary motivation for educating my children.

Damn, I forgot something...

That's great Blofeld

The best thing my parentals ever did for me was read to me on a constant basis.

Glad you find it imperative to be the instrument for your child's imagination.

So, what are great kids books then? At least for a youngun sprung from the Blofeld? At least, when that moment arrives, I's be ready.

Fudge! I thought that was about to be a complement.

Speaking of The Force, one of the greatest thing my dad ever did was to point me to The Hobbit which, of course, naturally led to the discovery of Lord of the Rings.

Well, my son gets his daily dose of Harry Potter, and the Hobbit and The Wind in the Willows.

Last night, after my daughter complained about me not talking to the book, she got an earful of The Fellowship of the Ring.

We'll read 'em darn near anything, though. A book we're loving right now is Sector 7 (which we got from the library). It's, like The Snowman, a book told entirely through pictures. Not a word of text to be found.

Still 2, which she was at the top of this string.

HA!

Woman's clouded your mind already.

I had to edit my preceeding post. I blame the goofballs upon which I was hopped.

I edited mine too, because it looked silly with yours edited, and I forgot what you had said.

So there.

And Nick, I didn't need a woman to have a cloudy mind. You should know that.

Now I've edited my last post because I want you to be the only one admitting you're sick. And when Nick edits his post, taking out the reference to your mind being clouded, you'll have to edit your reference to what he said.

Please tell me that someone here knows the Bunnicula books. Harold and Howie the dogs, Chester the cat, and everyone's favorite vampire-bunny. Good times, good times.

My other favorites were the Serendipity books. They had beautiful pictures of animals, both real and imaginary, and are pretty easy to read.

Can you tell I was and still am an animal lover?

My dad would read a little of The Stand every night.

To make the bad thoughts go away, I'd read Sideway Stories From Wayside School (and its sequel, both written by Louis Sachar). Try that one. It's goofy.

Yeah, well I don't care about everyone knowing I'm a sick bastard, but I edited my post anyway.

Just to prove I could.
