Broadway

I want to go see a show there. Preferrably Chicago, but anything will do.

But it needs to be cheap, since I'm in college and dead broke.

My school has off for MLK day, so I wanted to go then.

Any suggestions on what to see, easy transportation, etc. etc.?

And I read about 20 dollar Rush tickets on the day of the show, but are these hard to get? I am in Philly, and if I went to get tickets on the day of the show, I'd like to hope I have a reasonable shot at getting them.

So anyone in the "know," I'd like some enlightening!

For many shows, it's not too hard to just walk right up and get tickets, and at good prices too.

As to what to see, I'd suggest downloading some soundtrack online. You'll like a show alot more if you are somewhat familar with it and the songs. It's not like movies here where you want to be surprised (for me and in my experience anyway.) Knowing some of the songs and being able to sing along is a great experience.

Phantom is ending it's run soon. You might want to catch it before it's gone for good.

Flyers, if you're strapped for cash, it's called sneakin'-the-second-act. Have fun.

In Times Square there is a little booth in the middle of the street called Tkts (I think it's by 7th Ave and Broadway). They sell same day Broadway tickets for half price.

There is always a really huge line so you need to get there early (around 12; they open at 2 p.m.) becuase the popular shows sell out fast. When I go, I have the top three shows I want to see so that if they run out of one, I can still see a show I like.

Also, going on off-days (weekdays) is usually best because they have lots of open seats. Weekends are tougher.
