I think it's pretty obvious that the dog was a terrorist.

The cop will probably get a slap on the wrist.

That video was for shit, I could barely make anything out. Even if the dog was hostile, it didn't look very big. The cop should have just used his pepper spray.

That's so fucking sad.

a shitty way to start the year but I'd wouldn't say the cop was trigger happy.

An unfortunate accident at most.

If anything I'd do the same if a dog of that type were running towards me. But that's my own childhood trauma speaking.

Very sad, indeed.

I hate myself. My first reaction was: "Awwwww! Puppy!"

I don't know what they expected the dog to do when they opened the door. Dogs run around, they don't come out slowly with their paws up.

Shouldn't they have asked someone to restrain the dog??

The thing wasn't even 20lbs and not 2 seconds out of the car before the cop started firing away with his SHotgun. That's a bit excessive i think .......

The poor people told the lousy pigs to close the door because they had a dog too. That is so sad.

Well.....aggresive or not you knew this was what the cops were going to say : "It was agressive, it looked like a pittbull."

It was a boxer/bulldog by the way.......

But still: they should've closed the doors when the people told them there were dogs in the car.
Instead this happened and it's a big mess. ANother thing that might have happened is the dogs could've ran into traffic, gotten themselves killed and could've caused a car accident(or both ).

Also, aren't all police officers trained to use every other type of force before deadly force? I could understand if the dog was lunging at that guy's throat, but i didn't see that in the video

Yes, as soon as they were handcuffed and secured, one of the officers should have quickly cleared the vehicle and closed the doors. I don't know why they didn't do that. I can't watch the better video clip at the link I posted. Did the dog jump out immediately after the family was cuffed?

Police are trained to avoid lethal force when they can, but I'm guessing this guy was pumping adrenaline and was a little spooked by the dog so he just blasted the dog rather than using pepper spray or another intermediate weapon.

I'm sure I would do the same thing. Let's see, you've got some possible robbery suspects on the ground right there, your nerves are already frayed, and some dog charges at you. Most people would probably have blasted the mutt too.
