Are you superstitious?

Are you superstitious either out of habit or for real?

I stupidly knock on wood all the time. Also I will never say that anything is going good. It is a fact that when I say something, the opposite ALWAYS happens. So much so that my entire family never wants me to say anything good about them. Examples:

Was bragging about my mom once, saying that in 20+ years of driving she never even got a ticket - 3 days later she got a ticket.

Saying things like traffic is so smooth -- within minutes there will be bumper to bumper traffic.

I'm serious, my family will tell me to shut my mouth if I start to brag about something.

Anyway, anything you do? Throw salt over the shoulder, avoid walking under ladders, etc?

I'm the same way about "jinxing" things, Shelby. I usually stop myself before proclaiming something as going well, etc, and when I don't, and accidentally say it, usually something bad happens. It's crazy.

I usually knock on wood, but I don't do it all the time. As a kid I believed just about any superstition - walking under ladders, stepping on cracks in the sidewalk, broken mirror, black cat, salt over shoulder, etc - but that's long gone. I have too many other things to worry about...

The "jinx" fear is really the only one still alive and well within me, but for good reason. I'm too powerful for my own good, I guess.

I am definitely superstitious on way too many things. People may think I'm wierd, but my superstitions have never failed me, so I will keep on having them.

i'm superstitious when it comes to baseball. whether i'm playing or watching. i'm a huge white sox fan, and if they do something good (like score a run or something), i have to sit the exact same way or do the same exact thing until they fail. does that make sense?

Guys, when I ask for support don't say a damn thing. wink

Actually, I don't give a rats ass about superstition. When you put weight to something that is intagible, it becomes tangible.

A great example is a hex. If you believe in the hex it becomes real.

Yes, I am indeed a superstitious freak. I knock wood, I throw salt, the works. I had a car that I couldn't wash, because every time I did, something would go wrong with it. My Dad convinced me that I was being silly and just avoiding washing my car...so I washed it. Sure enough, the muffler/tail pipe fell apart while I was driving on the freeway the next day. Boy was that car clean when they towed it away!
