He could wear fake breasts, but not dresses?!? Yet again, the udder stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me.

| A cross-dressing teenage boy has won the legal right to dress in a dress anytime he wants. Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Louise Gruner-Gans ruled the 17-year-old teen - dubbed Jean Doe in court papers - should be allowed to wear women's clothes at a city-run group home for boys where he lives. "Jean Doe needs to be able to wear feminine clothing, including dresses and skirts now banned," Gruner-Gans wrote in a decision published yesterday. The teen already had been allowed to wear fake breasts, bras and hair weaves since moving last year to the city's Atlantic Transitional Foster Facility in Brooklyn. But for some reason, foster home officials drew the line at dresses. They first ordered Jean Doe to dress only in men's clothes in the 24-bed home in Brooklyn, then softened the policy to allow women's pants or shorts and blouses. But still no dresses or skirts. Frustrated at what he called a discriminatory policy, the frock-friendly teen sued the Administration for Children's Services, citing the state's Human Rights Law. He argued he suffers from a recognized medical condition known as gender identity disorder that impels him to dress like a woman. "Jean's need to dress as a female is not a matter of whim," lawyers said in court papers. It is part of a course of treatment outlined by her physician." Gruner-Gans agreed that the condition is a disability under state law and ruled the city must make what she called a "reasonable accommodation." "Jean Doe experiences significant emotional distress if denied the right to wear feminine clothing," the judge wrote. A spokesman for ACS said the agency was considering its options and had not decided whether to appeal. |
