Domestic life. Help needed.

Is there anyway to get candle wax out of carpeting once it has cooled in? Or am I fucked?

Can anyone recommend where I could get a drawer seperator thing for my silverware? The apartment I live in has the most assinine kitchen drawers I have ever seen. The are only 9 inches wide inside, so normal drawers won't fit in there. And I just spent a boatload of money on nice silverware and I don't want a chinzy plastic tray. I've ben to Bed, Bath & Beyond, looked online, etc... and no luck.

Any ideas?

"How do I lift candle wax that dripped onto
the carpet?"

"Once wax has hardened, scrape up what you can with a dull knife. Put paper towels or and old, white cloth over the area; with iron on low-warm (no steam), gently press. As wax is lifted, move towels so a clean part covers the remaining wax; repeat until wax is gone. If colored wax leaves a stain, blot with spot remover or carpet cleaner, following label directions."

For the candle wax, put some paper (newspaper, grocery bag, typing paper, whatever) over the wax. Apply a hot iron. The wax should be absorbed into the paper. Don't burn the rug, and keep moving the paper so the wax can absorb on a bare spot. If the paper has ink on it, it may bleed into the carpet, so clean typing paper's probably best.

No idea about the silverware thing. Maybe take one of the drawers to a Home Depot or somesuch and ask for advice.

I'm glad it worked!

For your silverware: I believe I have seen modular containers for organizing silverware or junk drawers (pens, etc.) at Target. They are individual boxes that snap together, that might work.

Mel (the better half) lit a big candle and dripped wax all over the carpet for the SECOND time in 3 months today. So now I have to do this shit AGAIN.

When I was younger, I was playing with my Star Wars toys and decided to make Jabba's palace a bit more atmospheric by using some candles. Needless to say, in all the excitement, hot wax met carpet and my less-than-impressed mother told me to put some kitchen paper on it, and use the iron to melt the wax.

So I carefully put kitchen paper over the wax, plug in the iron...and leave it there to melt the wax while I got on with playing.

Result: a rock-hard carpet/wax/paper fusion of burned stuff.

Oh yeah, and me, bollocked like a bastard.
