Drunken Singing

Thread Starter
I know lots of people sing when they're drunk (me included), but what do people sing? I've noticed 'Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You' is a popular one, not least because I just heard a bunch of drunks singing it outside my window. Nice serenade, boys.

Me, I always sing Doors songs when I'm liquored up, usually 'Touch Me'. How about you?

The King's "Can't Help Falling In Love." Actually had to look up the real name 'cuz I wanted to call it "Fools Rush In." Anyway, loves me some Elvis singing when I'm drunk.

When I used to drink a lot and get REALLY drunk, I would dance. Supposedly I can break it down when im drunk (I am white, remember)

Well, my good friend Polish Dan had a "karakoe throwdown" for his 30th, and the Chavez playlist amounted to:

"You Never Called Me By My Name" by David Allan Coe
"Family Tradition" by Hank II
"Mack the Knife" by Bobby Darin
"I've Got You Under My Skin" by Frank Sinatra

Plus numerous others that I attacked with support, but those 4 were the tunes that I stood up and did solo. I love singing Journey, but I only do that in the shower, I won't perpetrate that upon the general public.

I always want to sing but forget to. I end up quoting poetry and films in a very garbled incoherent way.

I'll I can ever remember the words to is "All My Ex's live in Texas". I hate country and I don't know who sings the song so I leave it up to the chewers to make a psychological judgment.

Journey is the best to sing when you are wasted, cause you sound just like Steve Perry at that point.

I also enjoy singing along to just about any 80's rock bands when I am good and intoxicated. Bloodhound Gang is another good band to sing along with while drunk. Of course, most of the time I never remember the words save for a few lines from the chorus when I am drunkenly singing.

My favorite to sing along to is Bob Seger for no other reason than the fact that I think his music kicks ass.

Yeah, its so bad that I don't even have to look at the monitor. I know every word by heart.

Oh my god, Becky
Look at her butt
It is so big...

Look what you all started. I must stop posting now before I try and type the whole song.

Why Don't We Get Drunk And Screw is a fave of my yonger brother (he's a redneck, so it's also his mating call).

My freinds and I have closed many a bar with a rousing, drunken chorus of Piano Man.

Conversation I had a couple of years ago:

Me: "Were they playing "Sweet Caroline" in the bar last night?"

Friend: "No, you were just singing it at the top of your lungs."

Me: "Ohhh..."

I'm surprised how much I remember those lyrics, far more than any other song from that year.

I have had similar conversations to this. Always fun to do impromptu Karaoke sessions at your local drinking establishment.

Edited to add: Of course for my friends and I it is usually an impromptu performance of 'Fuck Her Gently' by Tenacious D. Now that is a song that turns some heads at bars. We sang it at a wedding reception and the DJ quickly shut the music off, but that certainly wasn't stopping us from singing the song to its completion.

I was just at a bar where drunken boys were singing Tenacious D songs. Is this a recent thing? Cause I don't remember this happening when the album first came out.

Yeah, I have been known to sing Sublime, Tenacious D, and quote the Big Lebowski when I am really drunk. In other words, those rare moments when I black out I have been told these are my habits the following afternoons.

Well I don't know how long Tenacious D's album has been out, but my friends and I learnt the words to 'Fuck Her Gently' sometime around the begining of the year of our lord 2002. But we didn't make our cover band talents known until several months after we learnt the words.

I remember all of the lyrics to Baby Got Back.

I just remembered the fact that I often find my self singing "Sweet Caroline" whilst drunk, yet I know not the words to the song. All I sing are "Sweet Caroline. Bump bump budump bum bum buuuuummmm!" at the top of my lungs. The rest of the time I just mumble/slur the words on a 10 second delay to the actual song.
