WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court struck down a ban on gay sex Thursday, ruling that the law was an unconstitutional violation of privacy.

The 6-3 ruling reverses course from a ruling 17 years ago that states could punish homosexuals for what such laws historically called deviant sex.

Laws forbidding homosexual sex, once universal, now are rare. Those on the books are rarely enforced but underpin other kinds of discrimination, lawyers for two Texas men had argued to the court.

I think we should all (heteros and homos alike) practice our favorite act of sodomy as a celebration.

Disagree that this is even something the Supreme Court should have heard and thus am with Thomas' statement of the "silliness" of this. I believe this is a States' Rights issue and thus to be decided upon be elected officials not non elected judges.

That being said what occurs in the bedroom between consenting adults should be left alone. The government's place isn't in the bedroom as long as it isn't an endangerment to children or something of the like.

So essentially I understand the Court's heart in this matter but they were not thinking when they made this descision.

Also was the anti-sodomy law in Texas pertaining to homosexuals only or was it pertaining to sodomy in general? I know several states had anti sodomy against gays only and others had it against all sodomy type actions.

Also this does bring up interesting interpretations of the Constitution as to what "right to privacy" exactly means. This is why it is something the people should make up for themselves within the state.

Yet another complicated issue. The rule of law is far from perfected and we have been seeing it these past few days.

The law in Tx was for homosexuals only. What I didn't know at the time is that NC has a similar law that applies to everyone. Since the ruling today makes the NC law unconstitutional, I really do have something to celebrate.

I'll just be going now. I'll talk to you all in the a.m.
