Battlestar Galactica and the Cylons

Will Battlestar Galactica have robotic Cylons?

Yes it will. However, the focus will be on the humanoid Cylons in the new version since the writer Ron Moore wanted to focus more on the events of 9-11. The Cylons use humanoid forms to undermine the humans and infiltrate. The biggest infiltrator is Number Six who happens to have a relationship with Gaius Baltar. This relationship leads to tragic consequences for humanity. Anyways, there is plenty of material on www.galactica2003.net website about the new miniseries and an interview with Eric Chu the designer of the new robotic Cylons and the Battlestar Galactica.

I know I said that I'd give this thing a chance, but there seems to be some fairly alarming incongruities here:

Mary McDonnell as President Laura Roslin

Who the hell is 'President Laura Roslin'?

Edward James Olmos as Commander William "Husker" Adama

'Husker'?

Jamie Bamber as Captain Lee "Apollo" Adama

This guy looks more the male-model than Richard Hatch (in fact, they all look like models!)

Katee Sackhoff as Lt. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace

Starbuck's a GIRL!?!?!?!?!

James Callis as Gaius Baltar

Oh that's right - let's have ANOTHER Englishman as the snivelling dastard!

Tricia Helfer as Number Six

Shouldn't Patrick McGoohan be playing Number Six?

A new character who gives a democratic and civilian feel to the government on the ragtag fleet.

In the original series, the civilian government was under martial law with Commander Adama as the ruler with family members(Apollo and Athena) in key positions in the military. Also the civilian government was always portrayed as idiots.

The message in the new series is that civilian government is the best form of government even within a crisis. There is poignant scene where President Roslin asks Commander Adama if he is going to declare martial law or follow her orders. This scene is played nicely and it could have gone either way. Thankfully, Adama chose the correct action.

In the old show, it shows that a military dictatorship can work with a good leader. The new show removes that idea entirely.

It's his callsign when he was a pilot. In the video game, you will get to play young Ensign William "Husker" Adama at the start of his career.

Jamie Bamber does a terrific job in A&E's Captain Hornblower as 4th Lt. Archie Kennedy. He has good dramatic credentials prior to landing the role of Apollo in the remake. In fact, he has done more acting appearances at this point in his career than Richard Hatch did when he was cast Captain Apollo.

Yes she is.

The original Baltar, John Colicos, was Canadian.

You mean Patrick MacNee? I would certainly hope not. Some of the scenes of the remake would look quite weird of Patrick played Number Six.

Any pics of the Raider design in that cache you have?

I would love to show you the new Cylon Raider, but that one has not been signed for by the production for public release yet. I can say that the Cylon Raider no longer needs three pilots. Due to military cutbacks in the Cylon Military, they only use one pilot per Raider now. wink
