Well done HAM! Merry Christmas! I hope my "few" votes helped.

Glad it turned out to be a good Christmas for ya. Remeber who your friends are. Those who step forward when you need it. And those that want to borrow money from ya. Any guy with a great looking, little sister, just your age. Er, no scratch those last two.

Yes! Oh, YES! Way to go, HAM. And I also thank all the chewers who helped our HAM.

I am deeply ashamed that I didn't know this contest was going on. I would have gladly helped my boy talk to his Roddyness.

At least the rest of the chewers didn't let ya down man.

Congratulations, my friend, and sorry that I couldn't be part of it.

I feel bad.

Don't feel bad, Vince.

Not one bit. I tried to put the topic outta' the way so as not to bother anyone. You find it-you don't find it-no big deal.

I still love you the same.

Lame-o that I am, I =just= found this thread, so I didn't know about the win until now. Congratulations, Jason! I look forward to hearing more about the goodness that MUST have come from this.

This was great! Reading it from beginning to end I had no idea whether HAM was going to win, I didn't know the ending at all. Good stuff.

Wow. Someone brought this back? Heh!

Yeah, pretty awesome of the Chewers to come out and show strength, 'specially for a clod like me.

And, although the tape never surfaced (the RoddyRaw web regime was overhauled, and the confab was lost in the shuffle), I...

Well, it's weird, you see. For I actually hit it off fairly well with Mr. Piper. We continue to communicate.

It freaks me out that I dial a set of digits and RODDY PIPER picks up the line.

I have Roddy's home phone number.

Sometimes life is kind to me.

And so is CHUD.

You are a god to me now HAM.

"Yes/No/Maybe"-Sage Francis

"God Hates me! Turntable Hardcore"-Mr Dibbs

Heres an Explanation of the Preceeding quotes. I was at this really tight concert. They were all things the performers wrote for me.

Last night bears mentioning...

I was at the "inaugural event" for a new wrestling organization called XWF.

Oddly enough - despite the "x-treme" hardcore moniker, and the presence of a few former ECW guys, the whole thing was a trip back to the '80's. Not because of the performers involved, mind you - although seeing the ROAD WARRIORS fight the NASTY BOYS kinda' time warped me - but because it was real old-fashioned goofy fun.

Anyway, Roddy Piper told me that he wanted to meet me awhile back, and - in that he just signed a deal that made him the on-air commisioner (and PR emmisary) for this new endeavor - he was on the card and in the building. This seemed to me like a perfect opportunity.

After the show, I met with security, explained who I was, and was brought down a hall to where the wrestlers were.

When I told Roddy my name - he hugged me.

We talked a bit about the show, about writing (he's working on his autobiography), and about movies - and how I should write a few for him.

At the end of the day, I owe this to the people in this thread. I have had a year to make an impression via e-mail and phone conversations with the man, and to see his face light up when he found out who I was showed me that I had in fact made a connection with someone I consider a personal hero. The chewers made that happen. No chewers - no contest victory. No victory - no conversations with the man. No conversations - and the security at the venue would have never let me near the guy last night.

After a little better than a year, the payoff hits.

I came face to face with the ICON.

I told him he raised me.

He hugged me again and said "God bless you, son."

And I may have wet myself. Thanks guys.

Piper is terrific. I've seen some of the work he's done in Toronto on behalf of the less fortunate, and he is a downright good person.
