7 Films

Thread Starter
Cause things never work out in 5's and 10's in real life. And I'm talking real desert island mentality here: this is all you get from now until the end of time. So not only do the flicks gotta be really good, but they have to be very watchable, very easy to watch again and again. Like, I fuckin love Seven. I think it's such an awesome movie. It's so dark and disturbing and dynamite. But I can't watch it too often. Heavy, but not heavy rotation. So seven films. I think this is a really good way for people to reveal what they're all about.

Mine:
The Big Lebowski
Dazed and Confused
Your Friends and Neighbors
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Full Metal Jacket
Wall Street
True Romance

Impressed with your love of Wonder Boys. Such a good movie. You know who just delivers once again in that movie? Robert Downey Jr. When he's chasing down Grady's pages in the wind---so hilarious. Best actor in Hollywood.

2. Double Team
3. Once Upon a Time in the West

Well, I'm not thinking of my best of all time. I am thinking of 7 films I always watch every time they are on, and every time I get a chance.

The Indys and Star Wars are a little exempt because I've watched them bazillions of times, and could conceivably replay them in my head from here to eternity.

And yes...it's the new Ocean's Eleven. It's a REALLY fun film for me.
Point Break
Aliens
Dazed and Confused
Mallrats
Chasing Amy
The Blob (86)
Pearl Jam-Touring Band 2001
Hmmm, rewatchability? I can go with that.

Heat
The Usual Suspects
The Empire Stikes Back
Out of Sight
Batman
Patton
Braveheart

If I only get to see 7 movies for the rest of my life over and over again, I like the big epic films that really move me, or just great human drama.

The Big Lebowski
Goodfellas
Fight Club
Fellowship of the Ring

When it comes to movies, Devin has awesome tastes. I've never disagreed with him yet when it comes to films.

And for God's sakes, I'm ecstatic at your mentioning of "The Specials"! I rented that DVD and after watching it, I bought the damn thing the very next day! Way better than "Mystery Men" in my opinion.....

Here's me list:

- Snatch
- The Specials
- Starship Troopers
- True Stories
- Electric Dreams
- Night of the Creeps
- 2001: A Space Odyssey

Granted "2001" may seem out of place, but I just could never get sick from this movie.

If I changed the scenario and put another person or two other people on the island with you and you were therefore going to watch the movies you pick as little group, as friends, would that change your picks?

It wouldn't change mine b/c I consider my movies, my favorites, to be very social films.

Almost Famous (Dir. Cut)
Ap. Now Redux
The Big Lebowski
King fucking Kong
Godfather Trilogy (let me count it as one)
The French Connection
Wonder Boys
My how times change me. That list is so out of date.

AF doesn't hold on as many repeat viewings, AN would be to hard. The Trilogy really shouldn't count.

French Connection is good, but not one that I would watch over and over again.

Kong, Big L, and Boys would still be on the list though.

I just love how it appears that RDJR is going to save the day.....then he runs right into the wall. Classic film moment. "Crabtree...well Crabtree kept on being Crabtree."

So cool---I was just thinking of this thread. Mine would change a bit I think. Lebowski, Your Friends and Neighbors would stay. Probably Wall Street and Romance too. I'd have to find a slot for Croupier and one for High Fidelity I think.

If you hold AF tight, I give the dick slapping of the century. Sure it's charming, but it's also full of shit.

Chock full of shit. I'm most surprised I think by the love given to that film than any other. Because of 1. the amount of people and 2. the intensity of the love. Wigs me out.
I don't think I'll ever watch that film again. Full of shit is true, it's got some good acting chops in it but overall it's ass.

Crowe needs to do something good again.
