VIDEO GAME DRAFT- Round Five Discussion

Still trying to think of what i'm gonna pick....

Hopefully i'll make some enemies......
this is more Round 4 discussion, but Nick Shadowrun on the Sega was way superior to the SNES version.

just had to say it.

That's Dantastic:
Another one from me theme list taken. Curse you, Whitehead. My host family bought that for me... in Japanese. Suffice to say, I really couldn't do shit with it. So my parents got me the US version for Christmas, and I was all, "Oooh, that's pretty!" and it was a good game to boot.
Skies Of Arcadia blew me away. Far more entertaining than any Final Fantasy since VII. So good, Disney are making a movie of it (although they've called it Treasure Planet for some reason...)

I LOVED SoA....wish i'd thought of it first. A really memorable game, it'll be a classic someday.
DAMN YOU, DAN. You go to hell. You go to hell and you die.

SOA, what a great game.

Also, nice pick by Verbal as well. Bungie's pre-whoring out days.

I thought it was called Treasure Planet because it was an updated version of Treasure Island.

I think Dan was trying to make a joke, Otis. Damn his dry British wit!
Yeah I know, I'm posting on the fly here, have to get back to work, forgot to add a smiley of some sort.
Inspired choice from Mikah. Classic gaming and old skool Star Wars nostalgia in one tough-to-beat package.
I'm going to skull rape Blunt and McAllister.

Donkey Kong goes, OK I'm upset but I'll go to the next on my list Devil May Cry.....BASTARDS!
Thanks Dan.

But like Dennis, I was hurt by the Devil May Cry choice. It was to be my 3D action title for next round. I'm trying to get something from every genre I really enjoy.

What will my replace 3D action title be? Hmmmm.....
I have to say, Devil May Cry left me utterly underwhelmed.

Tomb Raider 4 is still up for grabs!

Nice pick with Devil May Cry, Blunt. My only problem with the game is that while the gameplay is phenomenal, the story and voice acting is so weak.

I just found that it got boring really fast. I can't really explain it, because plenty of people swear it's amazing, but I just got tired of it very quickly.
That settles it....Spyro the Dragon 2 is a goner.
Story is indeed preposterous, but frankly, it's just there because well, there needs to be one, since in our day and age, people can't accept old school style pointless beat'em up. It's just a wallpaper, an excuse to send our hero kick asses and provide some "dramatic motivation". That said, there were some cool scenes and I totally dug Dante's "don't give a fuck" attitude . The moment where he deflects a blast by merely looking at it is just pure bad-assness. Can't wait for the sequel.
I also bought DMC sight unseen and did not dig it at all.

Maybe because, under its straight forward beat-em up surface, it's actually quite the tactical game. I mean, some parts are pretty tricky and you just can't go rushing in hoping to win. Too bad for you, I hope the sequel rocks your pants.
DMC 2 is high on my must-get list.

And to Nick, nice pick with Twisted Metal: Black. I was wondering when one of the TM games (obviously not 3 or 4) would get on someone's list.
TM 2 kept me and my roomates affixed to the TV when we weren't playing raquetball or watching The Thing.

TM Black was the SOLE reason for owning a PS2 for a long time. While it has lost some lustre, it's so very special.

Except when Steve uses Spectre... that fuck.

"DEADLY ROCKS!"

I was really disappointed with that version.
My personal fave is Twisted Metal World Tour, but kudos to the pick.
And lest I forget: Twin guns motorcycle-repellent trick!!! How can you not love that?

You trying to say Double Dragon didn't have a compelling story line? You know the story is good when they make a movie out of it by god!
You owe it to yourself to track down Rogue Trip if you loved TM2. It was the same creators, but had more goal based stuff. There was this wire guided missile that was better than James.

Good pick.
While I suck large cock at car combat games I'm glad to see TM:Black make someones list. I completely agree that it was the only thing PS2 had going for it for quite a while.

In that case, damn me!

Great pick by Micah. Memories of my first trip down to Disneyland. On the way down we stayed at a hotel in Salt Lake City that had that game. I dumped a whole lotta quarters into that game.

Final Fight would have made a better movie.

I was actually planning to edit my post to make it more clear but you had already called me on it so I let it stand. But hey, damn the british anyway! Fish & Chip eating bastards! I guess that might be the English I really don't know but who can tell any of those people apart anyway.

Zork! What a great pick!

I may have to add an Infocom game to my stable, too. Heh heh heh.....
THE ELDER SCROLLS III: MORROWIND
Yet another in the long list of drafted PC games that would blow up my computer if I tried to play on it. Outdated piece of crap.
zork... ouch. nice pick... but i have something cooler up my sleeve. bwahahahahahahahahahaha!
I'm stunned that Zork lasted this long.

And for my money, Crimson Skies is the most fun online multiplayer experience I've ever had. It's an absolute blast, and the single-player campaign is a ton of fun also. If we could get Bruce Campbell as Nathan Zachary, my day would be made.
Original Star Wars Arcade ?

What a great fucking pick Micah. I forgot all about that game.

Damn, another one bites the dust. Man, I can't believe someone is selling a mint machine on Ebay. Wish I had a few extra grand lying around...

I gamble, I lose. Double Dribble is no more.
Damn, it's only round five and most of my games are gone. Grrrr....
At this point, it seems like prayers to make all the other drafters idiots have gone unanswered.

It's simple. Here's a cutout and keep guide to how "British" breaks down...

Scottish people have red hair and wear kilts. Irish people are drunk and violent. Welsh people have sex with sheep. And the English are all closet homosexuals.
Karateka.

Thank you Bret for reminding me of a classic that -- up until now -- I had totally forgotten about. What a great game.

Man Chewers have great fucking taste in video games.
I weeped silently for Karateka. I, too, was introduced to it on an Apple II at school.

Must be one of those doorless closets.

Gravedigger41 , a regular on the CHUD message boards, was erased from central memory today when he was struck from behind by a light disc. The disc, thought to be an unknown weapon for many rounds, came from a high ridge behind a Recognizer. The assailant has not been found...

Bastard.
hehe...Standing in the cabinet for that game for longer than three minutes destroyed my eardrums, but that game was a staple of my time in the game room at Godfather's Pizza. So fun.

BUT SSX Tricky AND Crazy TAxi? A combo I wasn't expecting to be stolen from me. Nuts.

discs of tron. sweet jebus. i stole many a quarter from my mother's purse to play that one.
DAMN! Another gamble gone bad. I have been holding the Discs of Tron card sure that people would overlook it.

The standup model that surrounded you was actually called E.D.O.T. for Environmental Discs of Tron.

Gravedigger, start digging.
Count me in with the rest thinking Disc of Tron had gone overlooked. I have been planning on dropping that bomb since round 3. Just kept putting it off though. Fuck me and fuck all of you!
