Post your list of ten choices here and I'll discuss your brilliance, or lack thereof. Here's a start:

Micah Robinson's 2002 Video Game Draft Selections:

1) Grand Theft Auto 3 (PS2)
2) Metroid (NES)
3) Ghosts 'N Goblins (Arcade)
4) Unreal (PC)
5) Star Wars: The Arcade Game (Arcade)
6) The Bard's Tale 2: The Destiny Knight (Commodore 64)
7) Tenchu (PSX)
8) Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (PC)
9) WWF No Mercy (N64)
10)Zaxxon (Arcade)

GRADE: A+
SECRET WEAPON: Ghosts n' Goblins

Micah has a robust group of titles ranging from the early days of video gaming to this afternoon. He covers a wide variety of genres and platforms and did a very good job of grabbing the marquee names early and going with the more personal titles in the second half. The only real weakness in the group is a lack of puzzle game and only one strategy title. There's also no real sports game, though the wrestling title is close.

A very good grouping for Micah.

Poxy Von Sinister's 2002 Video Game Draft Selections:

1) Baldur's Gate 2 (PC)
2) Wasteland (Commodore 64)
3) Lords of Conquest (Commodore 64)
4) The Bard's Tale (Commodore 64)
5) Crimson Skies (PC)
6) Neverwinter Nights (PC)
7) Grim Fandango (PC)
8) Questron (Commodore 64)
9) X-Wing: Rogue Squadron (PC)
10)K.C. Munchkin (Odyssey 2)

GRADE: B+
SECRET WEAPON: Wasteland

Poxy's list is very strong, and while it's PRG heavy, it features some truly landmark games and may have the strongest collection of role playing games in the draft. The surplus of RPG titles keeps the list from being an A, but Poxy's respect towards older systems (primarily the Magnavox Odyssey 2) showcases a true gamer not weaned on only the next generation systems. The triumverate of C64 games also adds an air of class to the mix.

A very solid, albeit focused draft for Richard.

Verbal Kint's 2002 Video Game Draft Selections:

1. Half-Life(PC)
2. Fallout(PC)
3. Silent Hill(PS)
4. River City Ransom(NES)
5. Myth: The Fallen Lords(PC)
6. Max Payne(PC)
7. Sanitarium(PC)
8. Icewind Dale(PC)
9. Sam and Max Hit The Road(PC)
10. Earthworm Jim(SNES)

GRADE: B-
SECRET WEAPON: Sam and Max

The bulk of Verbal's draft is recent, which hurts the overall score a bit. Still, he has a strong collection of some classic titles and even though it's mostly strategy and RPG centric, Earthworm Jim & Half-Life contribute to a solid mix. The addition of a sports title would have bumped it just a little.

A good draft with great games, no doubt. A little more variety would have helped.

An amazing group of games, probably just a hair above Micah's thus far. What really puts it over the edge is the choice of Solitaire, probably the cause of more lost time at more office jobs than any other game in existence. A little bit of everything, a few true classics, and a nice variety makes this an amazing assortment.

The only real knock is the absence of any next gen platforms.

An excellent collection of software for SPAL.

If this draft was done on a bbs in 1987, Mike's group would win the draft. This is a collection of games from a guy who represents the golden era of computer gaming, the foundation for most everything we "ooh" and "ahhh" about today. There are some VITAL games here (Pirates, Pool of Radiance, Defender of the Crown). The limited scope of the lot diminishes the overall impact, and while it's a list after my own heart its narrow focus hurts it.

A classy bit of software from the caribou luster.

Blunt's list is like that sports team that does well every year despite the presence of no one outright marquee superstar. MGS is a phenomenon, but the rest of the games are working-class, excellent games. There's good variety, a few late steals, and the list covers a nice period of time.

A sneaky, subdued, but strong offing from Blunt.

Dan's list definitely has a UK feel, with the addition of two titles from the Sinclair ZX Spectrum machine. Still, he has variety that stretches all through the years and despite the utter lack of a sports title, he has some massive guns in his arsenal. Personally, I'd have taken the NES version of Commando over the arcade version, but this is a solid pack.

A nice, if a bit regional grouping from Dan.

This is a weird draft, a hard one to summarize. It seems extremely personal, a group of titles primarily from days gone by. There's some classics here, but things a lot of the younger folks may not have had the priviledge of growing up with. There's a lack of strategy, RPG, and puzzle game but there's plenty of sports and platforming to go around. I didn't even know they MADE Double Dribble for the 64, but the NES one was a blast.

A slim range of titles, but a surplus of memorable games.

I agree with the ranking. I picked titles that were my absolute favourites of all time. I find many newer games just aren't as fun as the older crop. Back in the day, games that were deemed good were by necessity FUN because the graphics were so limited. Now that graphics have gone so far, there are tons of games I have found that look nice but are completely boring (Dungeon Siege anyone?). This draft was fun, and a bright spot in the shitstorm of my life recently. Thank you Micah for running it and thank you Nick for hosting it.

At first glance, this looked like a meager draft, but upon closer inspection it's actually a well rounded and smart one. They cover a mostly recent group of games and while most of the titles are not the BEST ones representing their genre, they're all INSTRUMENTAL titles in their genre. A very sneaky little group.

A very solid draft by Cheese Biscuits.

Dan's got an odd assortment of games, a very far Eastern draft filled with niche dancing games and stuff geared towards the younger Japanese set. There's some meat here, and decent diversity but I think his early rounds were not taken advantage of. Even Chrono Trigger, a classic, probably could have waited a few rounds with all the Final Fantasy stuff overshadowing it. Also, it doesn't represent the spectrum of gaming too well.

A good draft for folks born after 1980, especially those with a far East taste but I think it could have been more diverse.
