The ghostly bartender in The Shining. He only uses racist language once, but it comes from so far out of leftfield, and is so venomous that it's like a slap in the face.

Also, the scene in Falling Down where D-Fens is taken into the backroom by the survivalist guy where he shows him all his Nazi regalia. The look of horror on D-Fens face as he realises this man sees a kinship between them is one of the most powerful statements on US race relations I've seen in a movie. And it's all the more powerful because, like the whole movie, your own personal views dictate how you see the D-Fens character.

C'mon ... Edward Norton. Hands down. Although I've read that the guy in The Believer is really good, but I haven't seen it.

Russell Crowe's Hando in Romper Stomper made me a fan of his. Him and the late Daniel Pollock as Davey, the most dynamically conflicted skinhead duo for my money.

Edward Norton is unbeatable. Because unlike most racist portrayals, Norton is still a massively charismatic figure. You can see where he would be able to nurture the prejudices in his followers and where a weak-minded person could buy into it all. That's the real power of "American History X".

Peter Boyle was pretty horrendous in "Monster's Ball". I just cringed when Halle Berry walked into the house, knowing that he was going to say something awful.

Gary Sinise was one hell of a George Wallace.

Keifer Sutherland was pretty creepy in "A Time to Kill", and seeing that grand wizard go up in flames was scarily satisfying.
