Ooooh. In that case, Nick, you may want to disregard that e-mail that I just sent you. I need to go back over FFG's list.

Hellblazer to choose Braden Fraser in next round!

Carl, you said you wanted to steal a Quarren, not Estella Warren!

continuing the conversation in the Draft thread about accepting Thalia, i don't recall seeing anything in the initial rules about whether the movie was foreign or direct-to-video or whether it's actually seen by anyone. the rules only state the actress has to have appeared in "a film" and it can't be just a porno. further stipulation probably should have been made at the beginning, but i don't think it should be brought into question in the 6th round. of course, that's just my opinion

That's a little unfair Innocent, we don't know why Fright Flick Guy backed out. There are a number of things slightly more important to me than this draft... (well, three actually) but stuff in the real world can always intrude.

Unless it's Hellblazer setting up multiple accounts so he can grab a higher percentage of babes than the rest of us... Grrr.... We're watching you.

I'm watching Carl, too, after that Brendan Fraser crack. Give me a break.

That Billy Zane fella, on the other hand...

Dave, I agree with you, HOWEVER.....

What is "a film"? Can you pick any actress out of any TV series that was compiled on home video or DVD recently? How do we know that wasn't the case with the chicks like Peta Wilson and Thalia? Their "films" could have been TV efforts in their respective countries dumped to home video. All I know is that you can't order the Peta Wilson stuff on VHS or DVD to check.

I know my position may be precarious being that I was personally involved in the OTHER draft controversy, but my point remains the same.

I want us all to have plenty of fun, and obscure picks are welcome, but not so obscure that no one can actually see their work. You could walk into any Blockbuster right now, and rent a film that was released theatrically that has any of my 6 picks in it. For some people, you could order their films off of Amazon. But if there is no way you can actually see the "movie" work of these actresses, it seems a little dubious to me.

But again, I moved to allow the pick. I just wanted to raise a few points while doing so.

again, i just think that all should have been stipulated before the draft began, not during. since the guidelines were fairly elastic, some of the choices are bound to be questionable. for instance, what about a movie like "Rogue Trader" or "A Murder of Crows", which has stars like Cuba Gooding Jr and Ewan MacGregor, but winds up premiering on cable? are they therefore not "films"? if you're not going to define it ahead of time, you can't really hold anyone to an interpretation of the vague term as it is.

the guideline i am using is that if it's listed on IMDB and it's not a TV series, it's a film and therefore eligible, regardless of whether it's foreign, direct-to-video, or culled from BBC episodes

And it is written. Folks, follow Dave's comments to your male or female prize.
Innocent, I understand your frustration. It's annoying when people bow out and confusion ensues (as was sorely evidenced last week).

HOWEVER, I actually CAN think of several reasons that would keep folks from staying in tune with the draft consistently. For example, my mother-in-law has terminal cancer and it could really be any time when THE PHONE CALL happens. God forbid, if/when that happens you bet your ass I won't be around for several days... no matter WHAT is going on online. Websites be damned (including my own), priorities come first. And if I came back and saw a post like yours to Fright Flick Guy I would be MORE than pissed off and offended.

This is a GAME... it is FUN. Yes, those who take part need to make the committment. But if something happens and someone drops out let's PLEASE try to give them the benefit of the doubt. There really ARE a zillion things more important.

That said, this is STILL a fun treatin' part of my day. Nick has created a fun as hell (and mostly benign) monster that we all devour happily. And while we've had our minor bumps here and there it's been going on quite smoothly, IMHO. I'm having fun, and I'm sure you are too.

Now, back to the GOODS

And I'll casually mention that FFG was making a very diverse little talent pool of MALE and FEMALE actors, and there have been a few very unsubtle responses to such. Show a little couth, fellers.
Yeah, exactly. How come I get the feeling he left because of some unsavory comment somewhere?

And I like Dave's plan for who's valid. Realize that Dave saves most of you with his ideas, insomuch as if the rules were a little tighter, all of you kids that littered (and I do mean littered) your lists with MAXIM Clam would have nothing but gaping holes-

Quick-name a theatrically-released film that stars Tony Danza's TV brat?

Did I miss the major motion picture that Charisma Carpenter was in?

And lemme' tell you-I hate the notion that some are holding forth that if it is foreign, it doesn't count. That's jsut backward thinking.

Way I figure it, if it was shot on 16mm and got released to tape before television-it counts.

Perhaps I'm flogging the deceased object d' equestrian, but I've come to this late and I see that people are kind of getting outta' the spirit.

Come on, this is fun!
Well, HAM, I didn't mean anything by the foreign film stipulation. But aside from IMDB, if you can't rent, buy, or even find a picture of a movie that someone was in, it's kinda hard to prove it exists.

Nonetheless, I agree with Dave, Nick, and everyone else. I don't like changing rules once a draft begins.
I too want nothing but fun.

Oh, and BTW, (and Carl will thank me for this), Alyssa Milano was in Fear, starring Mark Wahlberg, Reese Witherspoon, and William Pedersen, which was most certainly theatrically released.
You forgot to mention COMMANDO, for Christ!

Also, DOUBLE DRAGON & HUGO POOL (which I saw at the awful "art cinema" here in Atlanta) were both theatrically released.... likely more. And she's had uncredited cameos in a few others.

But that's not at all the point... her films are the type you WANT to view in private at home.
Well, I wouldn't exactly call Miss Carpenter's movie "major", but dude, it had Michael Dorn, Pat Morita, and man among men Mean Gene Okerlund in it. That ain't exactly minor, baby.

Oh, and a couple of observations before I go incognito for a while:

(1) Rhinestone Cowboy is a nasty mofo, because Roxie Roker has been dead for years.

(2)"wow,i think everyone here has gone faggoty on us,guys, why guys." If that's why FFG packed up and left, I don't blame him. That offended me when I read it this morning, and I'm all about the clam.

Now I wish I had signed up for the draft, that way FFG wouldnt have been the only one picking from both sexes...
