MACGYVER - hit or miss? - Why NOT A MOVIE?

I DIDN'T know WHERE to post this. I'm sorry.

I'm hearing voices "MACGYVER" (the series) wasn't that success. The series aired from 1985 to 1992 on ABC or something. In my book, one of the greatest heroes who ever graced the screen, and overall, the best TV SERIES ever created !!!!!!!

Why they didn't a MOVIE out of the series?

Was it successful? The "sequel series" too? (after the first one, in 1985)

Would you settle on a shtick already?

Actually, I had a hunch who the poster was as soon as I saw the thread title.

Knowby - By "shtick," I think he means that you tend to pick an action film (or TV show, in this case), question its US popularity, then try to figure out why a) there hasn't been a movie made from it, b) it's not more popular, or c) why there's never been a sequel.

But it's always with a DIFFERENT film or show, thus it's a slightly different shtick.

I like your posts, since they demonstrate exactly how differently our shows and movies are received overseas. MacGyver did well-enough here, but it would never fly as a movie. Totally different type of audience.

Dave B,

You're a very nice persona, plus, you're totally right. Anyway, yes, the TV SERIES get definitely different audiences, but I don't know WHY, I'm still convinced "MACGYVER" the movie or "A-TEAM" -the movie could have been smash hits.

Thanks!

Knowby might be dating one of Marge Simpson's sisters.

Caress those corns!

Knowby, do not use the main forum for these posts any more. In fact, do not create topics in this forum again. There are forums on our boards that apply to this kind of shit. Scroll down and like it.

"Knowby"

My real name is Caliendo. Nicknames suck.

"do not use the main forum for these posts any more"

Okay, Dad.

" In fact, do not create topics in this forum again. There are forums on our boards that apply to this kind of shit."

SHIT? We're not talking about E.T, or EPISODE 1 or Indipendence day or ARMAGEDDON, or STEVEN SPIELBERG.
We're talking about MACGYVER, the most intelligent American ever!

"Scroll down and like it."

Scroll? Okay, daddy. I will not do it anymore.

Jokes apart, Nunziata, I was talking about a POSSIBLE MOVIE for a TV SERIES. Is this board no longer interested in MOVIES? (ehm)

This is why there is already a forum called MOVIES THAT SHOULD BE MADE. Please, get a clue.

Caliendo, knowby, whatever the fuck your name is, THIS BELONGS IN "MOVIES THAT SHOULD BE MADE" OR THE "TELEVISION" THREAD!!

Stop annoying us.

Yes but Macgyver wouldn't last two minutes in Thunderdome with Darkman. Cause Darkman is the smartest character ever.

Right Skippy?
I thought Mad Max was the smartest one ever?
Well I believe he IS smart. Just not as smart as Peyton Westlake.

Cause Westlake can defeat the Cenobites and out with that Weakest Link chick you know...
Plus, Westlake doesn't feel pain. That always comes in handy.

Guys,

This topic is going to be cool. I really don't know. Max, Peyton and Mac are probably the smartest guys on the face of Earth.

Surely, Mac is smartest than INDIANA!
Surely, Peyton can kicks Cenobites'ar*e everywhere, everytime...
Surely, MAX is more "badass" than SNAKE PLISSKEN.

Figure it out!

Ehm, Django...my name IS not "Skippy" (What?)

I've heard of broken English, but I think what you are saying should be classified as Destroyed English.

Verbal Kint,

I'm Italian. Surely you from the wonderful place known as "WEST BERLIN" speak english better than me. (West Berlin? Are you German?)

Or not?

Someone here, in Europe, living in a small and unknown country called "United Kingdom" says YOU Americans basically destroyed English.

Who knows the TRUTH?

Everyone gets one truth!

ROFL. Good call.

Anyways, a MacGyver Movie would be cool, but it would be more of a telemovie, or a video release. In Australia MacGyver was pretty popular back in the day. Not huge, but popular none the less

DudeMan, I always asked myself HOW the show performed in OZ in terms of success. Mac is very different from the archetypal Australian hero (don't take it as offensive - I love this archetype, i'm a cosmic MAD MAX FAN and created a site on the character)
Thank you for the answer.

Cliff, AGREED. Mac is great! Too bad the last season (the 7th season) didn't performed so well in terms of rating and share.
Anyway, there is still a chance to see an older MACGYVER in a great movie transposition! I'm sure Richard Dean Anderson is working in the shadows to make it real.

The wheel has come around and says that "yours" has an apostrophe.

Westlake mourns and Macgyver shakes his head.
