Now this truly cracks me up.
The envy of Star Wars continues with word that legions of Tolkenheads will begin lining up this Thursday at Midnight in most major cities so they can be among the first in the world to see the trailer to LOTRs.
Great, make yourselves look like bigger dipshits then you already are.
How can I say that? Easy, it's stupid. Just slightly more stupid then lining up six months in advance for Episode One was. Myself, I walked up to join a group of friends waiting FIVE MINUTES before the movie started. The longest line I stood in was the two hour line to get tickets to a showing I ended up not going to with a rival group of pals, and I did that only cause I didn't want to go home and we were hanging out already.
Now I admit that I have no desire to see Rings as it just doesn't appeal to me. But I can see why the trailer is such a cool event. Hell, even I want to see it as a trailer freak and to see if (GASP) maybe I could be wrong about the flick. And maybe I'll go see 13 Days, but I doubt it. I didn't go see Meet Joe Black just to see Episode One's trailer either.
And no matter how you cut it, lining up the night before to see a trailer is just f**king stupid. Not to mention smacking of wanting to out do the rival saga to become King of Fanboy Events...
