Bond. James Bond.

A franchise forum needs a Bond thread or two.

Hey, did you know I was writing a series of Bond articles for the new SciFighter (coming March 5th)? You didn't? Well, let me tell you about 'em.

Okay, Eddie ... I'll shut up about 'em.

What's your favorite Bond film, and why?

The Spy who loved Me but not for cinematic reasons.

It was the first I saw in a cinema and one of the very few movies my dad ever took me to see...on his own volition.

Anything with Blofeld.
No, I'm not sucking up...my favourite films always seem to have Blofeld in them.

So, that would be: From Russia With Love, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever and For Your Eyes Only.

I don't wanna ruin my series of articles (what articles, you ask? -- MARCH 5TH) by putting too much of my personal opinion here, but I'm very interested in hearing the rest of you people's fine thoughts!

Yeah. What he said minus the self promotion.
Well, ok, scratch Thunderball.

GOLDFINGER - Because it rocks. Nuff said.

LICENSE TO KILL - The best Dalton one and the only one that tries to make Bond out to be less a cardboard cut out good guy than the other films.

GOLDENEYE - For the opening sequence alone! But also the one that makes me believe that the problems with the last two had nothing to do with Brosnan.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY - The first one I ever saw and the one that got me fascinated with the franchise at the tender age of 8.

A VIEW TO A KILL - Despite having the most contrived ending I've ever seen (who the hell gets snuck up on by an AIRSHIP?) I still love that bare knuckle fistfight on top of the Golden Gate Bridge!

A part of my articles is a ranking of various aspects of the films as the articles go along (including the films themselves).

It'll be interesting to see if people agree with me or not.

One article per film, in order of release. I'm working on You Only Live Twice and On Her Majesty's Secret Service now.

Thunderball rules.

A View To A Kill was the Bond film that hit when I was old enough as a kid to like them so it also holds a place in my heart.

Django, I wanna know why you think Thunderball rules.

Coyote, I wanna know why you "scratch Thunderball".

My Thunderball article is already complete and submitted, so neither one of you will influence my argument.

Let it flow, people!

Goldfinger, Liscence to Kill and The Living Daylights. A View to a Kill is so horribly cheesy and bad that it ends up being very entertaining. Goldeneye is a solid bond so was Tomorrow Never Dies, but The World is Not Enough was absolutely brutal.

From Russia With Love is my favorite, but I haven't watched many of them in a long time, so I need to go back through them all to make sure I still like FRWL the best.
Finally, people are starting to realize that Timothy Dalton was one of the best Bonds, second only to Connery, and that The World Is Not Enough was horrid.

From Russia With Love is clearly the best of the series, with A View To A Kill and TWINE vying for the worst of the bunch.

If they would just let Brosnan do Casino Royale like he wants to...
Hey lookey there, me and Murphy agree on the best.

You're a tribute to fighters everywhere, Steve.
A View to a Kill was entertainly bad, while TWINE was just boring.

A View to a Kill was bad and cheesy enough to be enjoyable and watchable.

Now, Moonraker, that was just plain annoying! Far too Gadget happy (more so than any other Bond film).

Murphy, From Russia With Love "clearly the best" -- meaning that it's easy for all to see so.

WRONG! (at least in my opinion...)

Read my articles, fighters. (March 5th)

I've read your articles, and I can't believe you liked Casino Royale the best! Jerky.

I quite like TWINE. I think the opening sequence is amazing (I saw the damn thing being filmed, so I guess I'm biased). The middle part of the film is fairly slow paced for a Bond flick and the final bare-knuckle fist fight is a bit too convoluted for it's own good, but there's nothing critically wrong with it.

And my hands are TOTALLY off Moonraker zod . I own all the Bond films and that's the only one still in it's original shrinkwrap. Maybe it'll be worth something one day!

This post was edited by Nick Nunziata, Brian Koukol and Adam McAllister to increase the suspense over Blofeld's ranking of Bond films. Read his articles, starting March 5th at the NEW SCI-FIGHTER.

They do know I'm writing a series of Bond articles, right?

I like Poxy's idea.

Bond has been pussified and it's entirely the fault of the producers and the writers. The Bond that Brosnan should be is the one in the opening and the fighting end of Goldeneye. You can create a modern Bond but he doesn't really have to live in this world and its politics.

And please, someone orally support Blofeld's articles unless you want an array of poison dispensed in your drinking water.
