Indiana Jones and the ....

This is probably my favorite franchise out there!

I remember: I'd heard nothing about Raiders of the Lost Ark. My buddy (Xymog) gave me a call from a movie theatre one night, and said something like "you've got to see this!" I recall that I met him there, and we went into the next showing.

I was absolutely blown away. I didn't know what to expect from it, I just let it wash over me. WOW. One of the great evenings in a movie theatre, for me.

Second only to the drive-in experience with -- um, sorry.

What are your Indiana Jones memories? When did you first see it? Which is your favorite?

Raiders is by far the best, because they acknowledged the dark side of the tale. The prequel made it goofy, the sequel brushed over it, but Raiders hit it dead on, and that made the rest better.
Besides, it had Marion.

I remember sorta seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark in the theater. It was one of the first movies my mom ever took me to (I was 5 or 6). I dont remember much except being super scared at the face melting scene. I mean...really scared

Then I saw Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom at 8yrs old and thought that Indiana Jones was the most gorgeous, most adventurous, and funniest guy in the world. One of my first character crushes.

Raiders was the first I saw. My parents taped it off TV for me to watch when I was a little kid. It's still my favorite.

The whole prequel idea for Temple of Doom was a mistake by Spielberg. It wasn't intentional. He just cocked up the date at the beginning of Doom, which is why the scene where Indy goes for his gun and it's not there isn't as funny if you look at the film as a prequel. It was always indended to be a sequel!

Does anyone here like The Last Crusade? That remains my fave Indy flick, probably because it was the only one I got to see on the big screen. Getting to see Indy as a kid on his first adventure, and then meeting his dad was just a great movie going experience. Plus, the movie goes back more to the roots of Raiders, while dumping the lame comedy of Doom, and putting in funnier jokes in it instead. It's the perfect mix of the two first movies.

Yes, Doom takes place a year earlier than Raiders, which sets up a pretty big continuity error: Indy says in Raiders as he's getting ready to go after the Ark that he doesn't believe in all that magical mumbo jumbo (or something like that) that Marcus is saying. But in Doom, which takes place BEFORE Raiders, he's SURROUNDED by magical mumbo jumbo! He even says he understands the power of the Shankara stones! That always bugged me.
Von Sinister! Get out of my head! Out, I tell you! Out!

And yes, Lucas, and PR materials, always refered to Doom as a prequel. Something about not ruining the Marion thing at the end of Raiders, although they couldn't resist the damn gun joke.

Well, fire my wrists across the planet, could it be that I'm wrong? Seems like I remember Spielberg admitting that he had changed the date by accident.

Whatever the case, Temple of Doom (in my opinion-and Nick would disagree) is my least favorite. I love The Last Crusade, however. Connery and Ford were great together!

My memory of the whole thing?

When I was six I was so in love with the first movie that Mother Django bought me a little child sized leather jacket. Shortly there after I began crawling under the coffee table in the living room like I was moving under the truck.

Pictures of such events still haunt me to this day more so then photos of me handing upside down from my jungle gym like Luke in Empire does...
