Lord of the Rings: Poster Competition

Come December this year, The Fellowship of the Ring will hopefully have its vengeance on the doubtful. It is only months away and I thought we could start the fires burning by having a little competition going. Make your own Teaser Posters and submit them here! and it's open to all chewers. Sadly, we have no gifts to bestow on you, powerless and penniless as we are.

For the moment, the weekly winner will his poster tacked on another thread specifically for winners; The Official CHUD LOTR Poster Winners Gallery. Things may change and you may get some goodies. We'll work on it. No promises, though.

I hope the fun of participation and the recognition of being a CHUD winner spurs you guys and gals on as we count the weeks and then days before the first of the Tolkien trilogy hits the cinemas. Blofeld and I will choose the winning entry every end of the week. I just hope I'm not making an ass of myself here.

Here's my contribution which, by the way, will NOT be a winning entry to start the LOTR ball rolling.

Hmmm...could do a variation of the Star Wars Episode One international posters. ONE this. ONE that. ONE TRUTH. ONE LOVE. ONE PENGUIN. ONE RING.
Actually I have one in mind that I will hopefully get to if these calls stop coming in. You'd think I was at work or something.

Nice idea on Star Wars themed LOTR posters, by the way. Seriously can't wait to see them. Don't just tempt us, sex us.

I got all the graphics needed, I think, and reinstalled Adobe & Corel (new system. same stats, but this one works), so I will hopefully...assuming tomorrow is slower than the mongolian cluster that was the queue today...get it up tomorrow.

Eddie-EVERYBODY-send me any IMAGES you can find of the cast in COSTUME and I WILL put something together.

Sean-I was workin' on a poster once, an' I didn't think I could do a good job, an' a guy I know told me somethin' that made me feel a lot better about the whole thing.

Sure, that'll work. Found a few-but nothing I like, and I don't really know where to look, and I go to the places you'd normally look...and I get caught up in spoiler stuff, and start reading interviews...and lose two hours of my life.

For everyone else out there, if you need certain pictures for the poster work, ask Blofeld and me and we will strangle a mule and its sibling to get them to you.

Okay, so I'm painting a poster.

I've been tryng to think of the characters that tell the best story in terms of a Fellowship poster appearance.

I think the hobbits, Aragorn, Boromir, Gandalf must appear.

But Gimli? Legolas? Who else?

Normally, these thing would be decided over the course of months.

I'm going to paint a one-sheet in a week.

Who do you think should be on it?

Lemme' know...

Elrond and Arwen, bro. I think those two will complete it unless you wanna add Bilbo baby as well.

Yep. You're right. Galadriel is a good choice though Elrond is a pivotal character as is Arwen since her character is slightly expanded in Fellowship.

Your choice, buddy. I'm just here to be astounded.

Arwen...

What you have to do is set a tone, tell a tale, and hang the thing on your talent.

So for a legit Fellowship poster, I see the four hobbits, Boromir and Aragorn, Gandalf, and Galadriel (because Cate Blanchett's rapturous mug could never hurt your ad campaign-unless she's lost in creepish whiteface).

But DAMMIT, I want Gimli, too.

And while I might be writing about it a bit too much-YOU'RE definitely hyping it a bit too much.

One of the things I thought would be cool is to do the poster three times in mylar, one with a white pearlescant border, one in gray, and one in mirrored black.

And always with a gold chromium ring.

If done properly-tastefully-it could make an impact.

Ah, whatever...
