Favorite Moment: Star Wars Franchise

Gosh. So many from which to choose ...

For me, this one will be up at the top: Luke Skywalker staring up at the twin, setting suns of Tatooine, John Williams' score soaring. Despair of his current, land-trapped situation ... yearning for something more. The skies. The stars. His future to take off, and now! This spoke to me unlike any other screen moment at my tender age in 1977.

The scene with Vader looking at Luke being electrocuted and then at the Emperor. You can see what he's thinking, even through the mask.

I went 'YEAH!' at the cinema when the Emperor got thrown off the bridge. I was 8 years old and I've seen the movie hundreds of times since. But, I still remember that feeling.

Having been super-asturated with the original trilogy, I can only offer TPM fave scenes here.

(1) The bay doors opening to reveal Darth Maul. Cliche to like them? Okay. But I was on the edge of my seat the SECOND time I saw it happen.

(2) Qui-Gon helping Shmi down off the Eopie. "Good morning!" Good morning indeed.

(3) When Palpatine nearly grins at Amidala returning home to Naboo.

So many more.

Even though the Jedi fight scene at the end of TPM is killer, it doesn't hold the sentimentality for me of Vader and Luke in the Carbon Freeze Chamber. Father Vs Son in a very dark battle. Nothing really kick-ass, just Luke getting his ass kicked by his old man. Supa-drama.

Empire Strikes Back.

The way the lighting is effectively used when Yoda utters "There is another" just as Luke blasts off. Red glow is bright briefly and then suddenly dark in tandem with the dialogue. Dramatic.

All time fave.

Ep 1: When Anakin leaves his mother brings tears to my world-weary eyes.

Ep 1: When Anakin brings Qui-Gon and Padme home to meet his mother and as his future bride on his bed within ten seconds.

Ep 1: The scene when Anakin fires up his pod for the first time and the music swells as Shmi just stands there knowing her time with him is coming to an end.

A New Hope: Luke searching for his destiny as he stares at the twin suns.

Empire: The reaction of Vader as Luke falls to his "death" breaks my heart as it shows that all Vader as ever wanted was family and now his son, like everyone else, as left him.

Jedi: When Vader forces Luke to turn to the dark side and the final duel between them. When the son turns to the dark side, in that moment is when he redeems the father and turns him back to the light.

Jedi: The funeral pyre for Vader.
