Die Hard 1 : McClane encounters Hans ... and Hans pretends to be one of the captives. "Oh, God ... don't shoot me!" That whole scene is fraught with wonderful tension.

The rooftop sequence in number 1. Great action sequence, with the timer ticking down and Bruce trapped on the roof he comes up with one of the most implausible escape exits in movie history.

And it ends with a great line:

'We're going to need some more FBI guys, I guess...'

#1 is great ACROSS THE FUCKING BOARD!

The end of the first one where Hans falls to his death. And:
John McClane: Thanks a lot, Jesus.
Zeus: Why the hell do you keep calling me Jesus? Do I look Puerto Rican to you?
John McClane: That guy back there, he called you Jesus.
Zeus: No, he didn't, he said "Hey, Zeus." My name is Zeus.
John McClane: Zeus?
Zeus: Yeah, Zeus. You know, Mount Olympus, father of Apollo, don't fuck with me or I'll shove a lightning bolt up your ass, Zeus! You got a problem with that?

My favorite is when Bruce is wearing the sandwich board, and we've already seen that not far away are a group of mean-looking guys who have yet to notice what the board says, and Samuel L. Jackson comes up and starts chewing out Bruce and all the sudden, off-screen, you hear "What the Fuck!?!" That always cracks me up.

According to the IMDB trivia page for Die Hard 3:
The original ending had Simon getting away with the gold, and McClane tracking him down to Austria, where he defeats him in a game of "chicken" with rocket launchers.

How much cooler would that have been?

When that guy Harry is "negotiating" with Hans

"Hans! Bubbey!"

raoul, ask Nick about that one. He brought it up at one of the early coffee meetings. Sounded neat, but suicidal and weird, too.

Die Hard.

Something about the idea that if a man runs across a room littered with glass, he will undoubtedly BLEED. For once, they got that right.

The scene in the air vent where after he swings in, he starts making comments to himself.

And Mclaine's appearance is just about right for a man who just went through hell by the end of the movie.

One thing I love about Die Hard is that I can pick up some small new thing every time I watch it. There's so much packed into it.

At the end, when all Hell is breaking loose (again, right?), he's emerging through the fountain, plants left and right like he's in the jungle, people screaming and running, utter chaos. A good and little noticed scene.

The scene where Powell talks to McClane as he removes the glass from his feet in the first one.

The scene where Fred Thompson talks to McClane on the stairwell after he's failed to save the plane in two.

And not a god-damn thing in the third one...

"Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker!"

I also like the censored tv version of Die Hard 2 after McClane pulls the ejector seat of the cockpit with the grenade in it, and when the seat starts falling back to the ground, Bruce Willis' voice suddenly chances as McClaine screams out "Oh, SHOOOOOT!" instead of the usual "Oh, SHIIIIIT!".

The icicle in the eye is also always fun to watch.

The fight between Willis and Godonov. It's like a real fight... wild, messy, and quick.
