Favorite Moment: James Bond franchise

What is it for you? You'll learn of my favorites as my articles progress ... you did know I was writing Bond articles, right? March 5th. Sci-Fighter. Be there. **please?**
post #2 of 35
Thank god too, I was a little worried we weren't going to see them until Bond 20 came out, sort of double unveiling!

Oh, and favourite bit:

'Do you expect me to talk, Goldfinger?'

'No Mr Bond, I expect you to DIE!'

(any excuse to put on a silly accent is a winner with me!)

That is a particularly brilliant moment. Goldfinger will rank very high on my list of favorite Bond films.

You did know that that wasn't Gert Frobes voice, right? That several early Bond characters were re-voiced in looping ...

Oh, shit. One of the Bond facts revealed before the article. Sorry. Ignore that remark.

"I expect you to DIE!" strapped to the laser table, indeed a great Bond moment. Along with Masterson painted in gold from the same film.

Goldfinger. Brilliant.

Shit. One of my preferences revealed before the articles...

Oh, and there have already been 20 Bond films. It's just that Never Say Never Again hasn't been recognized as "official" because it wasn't produced by Eon, and was a remake of Thunderball.

SHIT! More article info released ... sorry.

And ...

Goldfinger is NOT my favorite Bond film.

What is?

I'm still with the Bond 20 thing I'm afraid. Otherwise Bond 20 was GoldenEye, and it's difficult to get excited about waiting for a movie I've got in my video collection...

It's like the 2000/2001 official start of the new millenium thing. It's still a great reason to get worked up, whether it's official or not.

But I did not know the rest of that stuff! Very cool.

flint, how can Goldeneye, in any way, be considered Bond 20?

Here is the list (avoiding the unofficial Never Say Never Again):

1) Dr. No
2) From Russia With Love
3) Goldfinger
4) Thunderball
5) You Only Live Twice
6) On Her Majesties Secret Service
7) Diamonds Are Forever
8) Live and Let Die
9) The Man With the Golden Gun
10) The Spy Who Loved Me
11) Moonraker
12) For Your Eyes Only
13) Octopussy
14) A View To A Kill
15) The Living Daylights
16) License Revoked
17) Goldeneye
18) Tomorrow Never Dies
19) The World Is Not Enough

And, yes, those were typed from memory. Do I know my Bond? READ MY ARTICLES!

Nick, can I get some help here?
Easy, Goldeneye can be considered a Bond film because I completely made one up... Somewhere between Moonraker and For Your Eyes Only.

It was a good one though! Lots of explosions.

Yeah... I was adding NEVER and CASINO to the list. And in my head, 19 + 2 made 22. Which made GoldenEye number 20.

Damn...

If it's any consolation I am too drunk to drive at the moment. I will go hang my head in shame.

R-LU -- good to see you, and I know who you are! You've read some of my articles ... TESTIFY!

And, yes, that quote from Lazenby is a great quote from a PISS AWFUL film.

Damn, there I go again.

Now no one will want to read my articles...

Ursula Andress ... well, let's see ... that would be Dr. No.

Did you know that Ursula Andress was ... um ... well, I guess you'll have to read the articles ...

Dr. No. Coming March 5th, on the NEW Sci-Fighter!
My favorite was Ursula Andress' nude scene in Dr. No. At least until I got the DVD and realized she was just wearing a flesh-coloured bathing suit. Damn DVD and it's extra resolution.

Oh, well ... you didn't get the Ultimate Edition DVD of Dr. No. It doesn't have the flesh-colored bodysuit ...
I'll help ya on this one, R-LU.

Brosnan was attached to do Diamonds are Forever after Remington Steele (to which he was contractually obligated) ended. The media released the news and all of the sudden, Remington Steele got a buttload of viewers wanting to see the new Bond in action. With higher ratings, the network used their option to make new episodes, making Brosnan unavailable for Bond. Ironic, eh? From there, Dalton gets the role of Bond, James Bond.

Does that cover it, Blo?
I hear they're also the closest to Ian Fleming's Bond we've seen.
My favorite moment is the opening pre-title sequence of The Living Daylights...

Diamonds are Forever was released in 1971. Remington Steele ran on television from 1982 to 1987. Other than that, DJ...

Yes. Hence the disclaimer at the top of the list.

The "official", Eon produced Bond films number 19. That's why the one in development is called Bond 20.

There will be 20 articles, one for each film INCLUDING Never Say Never Again (and avoiding Casino Royale like the plague it is).

If you thought I was unfair to Thunderball, just wait ... Oh, shit ... giving more away. Sorry.

Yes, I have read the books. Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, and Thunderball especially (since it was written from an original screen treatment) come pretty close. You Only Live Twice is similar, but with some pretty big departures.

The Gardner Bond novels are very good. No movie has been made from them, but Gardner did write the adaptation of License To Kill.

I have not read the Benson novels.

One of the categories that will be "ranked" in my series of articles is Theme Song. Yes, there were some GREAT ones early on ... Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey, Thunderball by Tom Jones, etc. Garbage doing The World Is Not Enough was allright....but some real stinkers have come out ...

The worst? OK, I'll give...it's ________________

Damn it Nick!

Dammit, I get the diamonds and never titles mixed up. Brosnan was supposed to be in the Dalton flicks. That's what I meant.

So do I, Neil, so do I.

Let's see, the title song to From Russia With Love and Goldfinger are called From Russia With Love and Goldfinger, respectively. You Only Live Twice -- You Only Live Twice. Live and Let Die -- Live and Let Die. The Spy Who Loved Me -- The Spy Who Loved Me.

How come the title song to Octopussy is On An All Time High?

And squeezes with her charms
She's mondo juicy
My Octopussy"

See her dildo on the nightstand
See her buttocks glisten with sweat
See her boobies through the window
I want to touch them but I haven't yet

Octopussy, I want to touch it
Octopussy, you know I need you
Octopussy, wanna stick it in
Octopussy is what I wanna do

I never knooooww if I should wear lambskin or if rubber's what you'd preferrrr
I never knooooww if you want to get right to it, or is foreplay firrrst
I never know the lotion, the lube, the stuff, the stuff you use
But now the time has come and I need to know cause the store closes sooooon

See your undies all over the floor
See your mirror over the bed
See your camcorder on the dresser
Who do I have to blow to get some head

Octopussy, I smell you from here
Octopussy, I hope you're virus-free
Octopussy, I see you've been shaved
Octopussy, can I bark up your tree

I need to knooooww, does the carpet match the drapes, or are they dyed
I need to knooooww, so let me whip out my vaccuum cleaner and deciiiide
It's a sweet and tangly snatch you've got under that robe
Let's begin, give a kiss, this time I won't miss
Got your hand guiding me iiiiiin

Octopussy!
Octo! Octo! Pussy!
Octopussy!
Octopussy!

I want your band to record that. But if you do, I get my name in the liner notes, lyric credits, and a copy of the cd.
Actually the title song to SWLM is called "Nobody Does it Better".
