Pictures of childhood toys you miss - Page 4

I remember the light cycles had the rip-cord thing going. Very nice.
I had a lot of the big GI Joe vehicles:

Skystriker

Dragonfly

Rattler

Night Raven (the coolest plane)

My favorite Joe toy overall was the Hovercraft, it was huge:
I once bought the GI Joe aircraft carrier off another friend of mine for twenty bucks. After leaving it on my patio for about a year another friend of mine set it on fire and filmed it.

Lots of cool drippin' flaming plastic shots. It was nice.

Unfortunately the ass taped over it for Darkwing Duck. Which still pisses me off.

But I still have all those other Joe vehicles. Except the hovercraft. Always wanted it but alas, not meant to be...

It came with possibly the stupidest looking Joe:
Cutter Item # 6005 boxed with Killer WHALE
Hovercraft Pilot O-2 (Coast Guard lieutenant, junior grade) SN: RA403540688
File Name: Lt. (j.g.) Skip A. Stone Primary MOS: Hovercraft Captain

Well, Nick pretty much listed everything that I was going to aside from the 18" Alien(Dear God, how I miss you, xenomorph). And holy fuck I've been trying to figure out what the name of Terron was for years. It was one of the few toys I had as a kid that I could never put a name too. Oh, and this guy...

*steps up cautiously to microphone*

*clears throat quietly*

hello everyone,
This is my first time posting in here ... well .. I may have posted in here once upon a time (previously and probably under a different name) as I've been coming to chud for several years now, but tbh I don't recall if I ever said anything and to be even more dangerously obvious I've spent most of my work days over on aicn's boards, but harry over there seems to be having technical difficulties, so now I'm here, hope you don't ban me for that

I didn't see a welcome newcomer thread or anything for first posts so I picked this thread to post in because I too have that plastic Godzilla with the flame tongue and shooting hand, though over the years I've regretably lost the shooting hand and mine doesn't look anywhere near as well preserved - stupid crappy basement conditions

OK well that's a wrap on the first post, sorry I don't have any pics to offer.

Welcome (back), Trevor. This is probably the friendliest thread you could have posted in.

Now let's see some pictures!

Monsters in my Pocket

Jesus, these were sweet. They came with cards and they each had a point value so you knew the precise amount of cool they each were.

I remember that guy. Sharper Image maybe?

Actually cut one of his staps off to give him one so he looked like his movie version.

Was stoked that he could have his swords held behind him.

My fav, and the only actionfigure that had the sais in proper position. New ones have to have the arms raised and legs at certain angles.

yeah I also picked up the new ones too.

You could program (record) his movements by putting a casette tape on him. So I had a program that would go to the kitchen and ask my mom for a sandwich. It would wait and then come back to me with the tray.

Is there anything comparable to it today that doesn't cost an arm and a leg (like the Aibos )?

Well, you can get this guy for $400:

And this one for $200:

The robosapien can't hold a tray with water and some food right? Looks like he'd tip over.

Yeah, I think that's probably beyond him. He apparently likes to bowl though.

The first robot pictured (Roboscout) can serve drinks and whatnot.

There's a quarter-scale programmable R2-D2 out there that's supposed to be able to carry a soda can for you. I think it was listed around $200.
I fell in love with the COBRA B.U.G.G. when I saw it in a catalog. Detachable sub with two jet skis... I started callling the local Toys R' Us at least 3 times a week for a good couple months. Got to the point that they were recognizing my squeaky little voice and would hang up most of the time.

By the way, what the hell is with the Gerwalk mode of Robotech fighters? Looks like you forgot how to transform the sumbitch or "Look! It's a triplechanger!"

They go for around $70 nowadays. I got one for Christmas a few years ago, so they may be less now. Also, they're not exactly programmable, but they do respond to certain "built-in" voice commands. For example, saying "Hey, R2. Command Mode. Play Message" will cause R2 to play a sound recording of Leia's "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi" message.

He can also play music, dance, play hide and seek, and respond to questions, my favorite being "Do you remember Darth Vader?" which causes him to back up while screaming.

He's also a great baby sitting tool, as my young nieces and nephews love to watch him do his thing.

When the batteries are low, he seems to have trouble responding to commands.

I've attached an image of how I store him in my room for S&Gs.

Visionaries!

I never had any of those, but I believe there was a Marvel comic.
Yeah, so I'm just now reading this thread for the first time. THANKS for the reminder of Gre-Gory, which a buddy had. That was a pretty cool toy! The same kid also had the infamous Godzilla toy.

I loved the MASK and GI Joe like many of you, and I can't believe I'd never seen that Rocky box art, though I did know the saga of his ill-fated appearance in the Order of Battle.

I had all three Centurions, and 2 or 3 additional suits for Jake and Max. Those were some pretty fine toys.

Here's my submission for favorite forgotten toy that I haven't seen mentioned here, though:

Tomy's Air Jammer. LOVED IT. You could get some serious speed out of this little bastard, and the BRRRAAAAAAPPAPAPAPAP sound was oh so satisfying. I wonder if I still have this in a box somewhere? I would like that a lot...

Dark Tower!

And it scares the bejeezus out of me how alike most of us are. When I saw this thread title I almost fell out of my chair when I opened it up. I swear to Xenu that the first thought I had was Shogun Warriors, the big Godzilla and the Inhumanoids. Awesome.

And this was always the main hero character, though I only had the character and none of his accessories:

Holy shit. I used to have him. AND the accessories which I lost one by one.

I had a horrible habit of making all my action figures wrestle with each other.

But I can tell you that this man and The Shadow had many classic matches in my toy wrestling ring.

Oh, and the only picture of this yo-yo I could find was a Leonardo one on Ebay:

I had the Donatello version.

Rock lords anyone?
Hey, a friend and I were talking at work, but we coulnd't figure it out.

We both were children of the 80's of course. There was a toy that was a big bird with rubber-ish wings and there was a button to make the wings flap. It was maybe a falcon? Is this a He-Man toy? Anyone?

I remember an action-figure vehicle that had a flapping-wing feature, but it was a giant bug, not a bird. From the Sectaurs line I think, or possibly the Micronauts Aliens.
Thanks.
I do remember Sectaurs now, but that's not what I was thinking.
The one I was thinking of was more like a Battlecat sized thing. Oh wellz.

It's so hard to find toys online sometimes with nothing to go by besides "rubber bird 80's toy"

He-Man. It was the bird that the Empress turned into.
Actually, thanks to He-Man.org, I think I found it.
I believe I was thinking of Screech and Zoar.
Dunno if they had to do with the Empress or not.
Thanks

??? That's an odd toy to have been reminiscing about.
By Empress, I now realize I meant The Sorceress. I hang my head in He Man shame, glad you found it none-the-less though.

I loved that, and I never even saw Jaws until I was an adult.
Ohhh, I think I'm in love with this thread already. I have a few girly things to post, but some of my favorite toys were superhero stuff, same as you guys.

As you know from the Toy Story 2 discussions, I've already got P.J. back, Barbie's hippie chick friend and my favorite doll, courtesy of ebay.

Also miss and love:

My Planet of the Apes board game:

Tiffany Taylor! This doll was so freakin' cool. Half of her hair was blonde, the other half was brunette. The top of her head turned around, and you could change her back and forth from blonde to brunette. You could pull the strands of hair through the front too, and make it look like she has streaks. I got her for my tenth birthday - she was just awesome.

Next bunch, see below.

I can't find a picture of this (although one time around here, I described this, and Timothy225 found one), but when I was about 10, I had this cool-as-hell fold up Batcave/Wayne Manor combo. It had a handle at the top, so you carried it like a case. When you unlocked it, you folded down the front half, and that was Wayne Manor. In the center was a squarish section that folded in, and that was the Batcave. It came with about 20 flat, stand up figures of everyone even remotely associated with Batman. Batman, Robin, Batgirl, all three of their secret identities, Alfred, Aunt Harriet, Comm. Gordon and Chief O'Hara, every villian you can think of, even the lesser known ones. And you stored them inside the Batcave, folded that closed, and then folded the front back over it. Great stuff, wish I had a picture.

And last but not least, my beloved Wonder Woman board game:
