This is an epic tune, and my favorite from the new album. I really think there's something for everyone here. Give it a shot.

SUPERCONDUCTOR SLEEPS: Alkaline Tears
(music - Robinson, words - Nunziata)

Weakened, Awakened the Superconductor’s sleeping
Shake the foundations quiet monstrosity
Weather breaks in feeding its pores
Channel the energy ominous and seething

Coast on the new power source and face swells far superior to yours
maddeningly unified with a goal both global and rooted in our own backyard
painful as it stretches ever closer to a heaven we’ve either created or killed
the thudding iron heart of everything that it is beginning to have a bit of a palpatation

(Chorus)
Fighting the sting of industrial age
The metallic yet tender embrace
Grab human footholds as the superconductor sleeps
We will rise

Invaded and Bleeding
Plates shift for the overhaul
No longer the Superconductor sleep
Will affect us, we break bread with the soil
United with the ground that gave us birth

Rivets Burst Iron Buckles Sweat Pours a Watershed
We are alive We are Burning We are flesh made better by steel
In the furnace of the world we prepare for a revolution
Step by step broken bones heal in a fusion of man and machine
Meat welded in carbon and coal and suddenly purpose is granted a vessel
Unchained, we’ve got a seamless drive and passion
it’s never felt so good to hurt so bad
as if a burden has dissolved
we step in to the sun for the for very first time
Looking superconductor in its digital unblinking unconscious eye
And in the cold harsh light of the darkest place ever imagined
We see the weakness to exploit and that weakness is our own humanity

I have a nightmare, a nightmare that we all can live in harmony
Break off from the race of man and nuzzle up to a motherboard
My nightmare can be realized if we’ll all join together in an embrace
made whole as the soldering iron improves on our weakened skin

(Chorus)
Fighting the sting of industrial age
The metallic yet tender embrace
Grab human footholds as the superconductor sleeps
We will rise

SOLO - Micah

(Extended Chorus)
Fighting the sting of industrial age
The metallic yet tender embrace
Grab human footholds as the superconductor sleeps
We will rise
Awake in the cradle of our new mother
Asleep in electric embrace

Alkaline tears rain down
We are swollen with loss
as our machine soul breathes its last air
Is the ground rising or have we fallen?
Superconductor sleeps no more

SOLO - Steve

Drums, Bass, Guitar - Steve
Vocals, Keys - Nick
Lead Guitar - Micah

This song is like getting a great blowjob from Rosario Dawson and having her cook breakfast the next morning. This is a great tune that needs to be played as loud as possible.

Nick, Steve and Micah for the love of the gods keep up the good work.

Also my fave. This is a great example of the progression PKG has made.

When it began, I didn't think it was going to be this good. We had taken some stabs at recording this song before, but it never seemed to come together and even then, I didn't think it'd be this good.

At our most recent band practice, tho, it all fell together. Steve's drums fell together pretty quickly and quite well, I might add. I laid down most of the guitar tracks fairly effortlessly, and Steve finished it off with a nice solo at the end plus a punchy bassline, to boot.

But all of that was just support for Nick's best vocal performance EVER. He just went above and beyond for this one. So many different vocal styles and melodies, I wouldn't know where to begin to describe it except for...fantastic.

Currently my favorite PKG tune of them all.

They call songs like this one "5-minute Epics".

Sweet Christmas, why can't bands with big label record contracts evolve like you guys?

There are other PKG songs I might like slightly better, but I have to say the is the best PKG song that has been unleashed upon the world. Incredible work on all fronts, gentlemen.

So far, I'm loving the response but honestly... shouldn't this be a good breakout thread to get more fuckers in this forum?

Since no one has mentioned it yet, I tried to make it a little like a rock opera.

Nick IM'ed me to help me rebuild the chuddy goodness on my recently wiped out computer, and mentioned he had new music, so I DL'ed it and took a break from rebuilding to listen.

The first this I thought of was that the song was the introductory chapter to a rock opera/epic album, say like 2112 by Rush. I would be very interested in hearing the ideas expressed in the song developed into a full musical story if at all possible, as it's themes are ones I can relate to (having been the slave of technology as long as I have).

The playing was excellent. Good to hear Micah playing guitar (last time I heard that was on the Darker album I have). The spoken bits by Nick are brilliant. That free-flow word association that ends up making sense and more importantly being artistic is difficult to pull of if not impossible, yet it was done here.

Well done fellahs!

Not my fave, but very good. The talking parts remind me of SOAD. I'll need to listen some more, but I like it so far.

Absolutely. This is probably the most accessible song you guys have ever written.

Awesome, awesome song. Beautiful sang, performed, and composed.

Very saucy work, gentlemen. Made me think of what it would sound like if Faith No More turned Tetsuo: The Iron Man into a Queen-style rock opera.

Interestingly, I listened to it with 5 month old Dillon on my lap, and the start of the song made him cry, but Steve's solo at the end calmed him down.

PKG - manipulating the emotions of children.

PKG - Music BY children FOR children.

Not bad, not bad at all. The lyrics are very ambitious. I'd like to see more along this line. It was haunting and insettling.

One of my favorite PKG tunes to date. Great work fellas.

A new computer and DSL connection, combined with days spent at home looking after J-Roc, have given me the opportunity to listen to Package for the first time.

Holy Christmas! This is some great shit!

I'm unable to put my thoughts to the page as succinctly as others in this thread, but I love what I hear. Superconductor is awesome.

This really is an AWESOME piece of work, here.

I think I forgot to comment on this. It's catchy. I like it.

Very good vocals.
Really, really, really like it. Progress is the word. Not only are the vocals wonderfully delivered, but the lyrics are too interesting to be ignored. There's a touch of the QOTSA 'stoner rock' style that works VERY well. Don't know if I'd go so far as to call it mega-accessible, but it certainly sends you into a head-nod. This song excites the hell outta me just thinking of what else might be coming. Wonderful job guys.

I dreamt about this song last night. I was watching Buffy, and the opening chords were being used as incidental music. I was really impressed.

Man, we are so late with this record. I cannot believe we did this song well over a year ago.
