I WONT BE THERE, new from PKG!

Another oldie remade for the modern era, and a kind of weird mix of pop song, international song, and whatever else we have going on. Different, but fun. This was one of the first Steve and I did when we met, and now here is the (hopefully) last incarnation.

I WON'T BE THERE
music - S.M. words - N.N.)

Feeling like I'm burning on the inside
but I'm holding my own
one day I'll be looking at someone else
and not watching this phone

But if you need me, I will hold you gently
and tell you how much I care
but when you turn to say goodbye
I won't be there

And they say that lonliness is better than a love
secure but unwhole
these walls I made will keep me safe from your words
but it wasn't my goal

But if you need me, I will hold you gently
and tell you how much I care
but when you turn to say goodbye
I won't be there

Well I can't love you any more than I do

I'm the kind who likes to be there
the the kind to run away
through thick and thin, I'm in
I'm always there to stay
but you you turned your back on me
when times got rough
that's not the way you do it
when you're not alone

The sound of my voice will bring you
but it'll echo hollow compared to the love we had
feeling the pain is better than distance
let me prove it again and again

But if you need me, I will hold you gently
and tell you how much I care
but when you turn to say goodbye
I won't be there

[i]Drums - Micah Robinson
Guitar, bass, and backing vocals - Steve Murphy
Vocals - Nick Nunziata

Nice, moody tune, Nick. The vocals sound sweet.

Good track. I like the guitar and drums in this a good bit. The vocals are cool. I love the lyrics for this also.

Another fave amongst the remakes. One of Steve's most melodic and satisfying compositions, and the redux really helped emphasize the Latin groove that was always bubbling under the surface of the original.

Another nice layered vocal from Murph and Nunz, too. All around goodness.

Excellent! High quality vocals and music with a smooth groove. Love it. I've said it before, and I'll probably say it again, this remakes album is shaping up to be just amazing.

Seemed to be too much happening in the song, especially at the beginning where it was so unpleasant that I wanted to turn the song off. Maybe it's something with my speakers, but I dunno, a lot of it just had so much happening that I was put off.

That was our goal.

Did any one element seem too busy, Flyers? I ask because there's just a bass, drums, 12-string acoustic guitar, and a modest electric lead at the beginning. Fairly sparse, although the mix may have you convinced otherwise.

I'm musically illiterate, so I wish I could be more descriptive in what was bothering me.

It seems that the bass and drums at the beginning are what get to me. Just too loud and they seem to "clash" if that makes any sense. They're not necessarily bad, but when listening to them together, they just disrupt me.

Now that I listen to it again, it's nowhere near as bad, just seems off to me. That being said, I love the acoustic guitar in this. Would love to hear some stripped down PKG tunes.

OK, listening to it one more time...The effect on me seems to lessen each time. The bass just seems too loud and grating.

But it grows on me with each listen....

There's a few things going on at the beginning, sure. That said, I like it. These kind of songs don't have long lasting value because they're kind of basic in idea and the "pop" type stuff gets people in the door but aren't the kind that you groove to for months.

I dig this little fucker, though. Like "What I Know" and "Rearranging You", Steve and I could re-record these 100 times and never be satisfied. Such is life.
