SUNSPOTS
(lyrics: Nunziata - music: Package)

Sunspots betrayed them all today
Distorted irises reflect light untrue
Mixed signals breeds malcontent
There's not a person without blood on their hands
Not a butcher or a businessman

All you can do is glance away

Sunspots distort the heated day
New formed barbarians rise up
Melting pot boils over, causing disagreement
Bloodshed in the streets

All you can do is glance away

Vocals & keys: Nunziata
Drums & Guitar: Murphy
Bass & Guitar: Robinson

This one started as a jam, and we recorded almost exactly the same tune as a live track. This is the "studio" version as the other was a little too raw. Still, I don't recall any of our songs like this.

Real nice. I love tunes with a moody feel; the keys and guitars on this really make it for me.

Thanks Hart, you're always good to us.

Now, the rest of you....

Wow, great song. The guitar sounds perfect in it, and Nick your voice is, as always, really cool.

This has been the first time I've checked out your sounds Nick.

To be honest, the last time I checked out your 'music' was with that karaoki link you did awhile back and the crudeness of that recording turned me off a bit.

But I'll be damned to say I liked what I heard. Somber little ditty with great keyboard/guitar work. Took me awhile to get used to the vocals (as it did for me to get used to Radioheads newer stuff). Keep it up.

I know some members of Package may hate to hear this, but this really reminds me of that moody, esoteric, yet guitar-driven rock from the 70s. Like the Eagles or something. I don't know if that was the intention. If so, you nailed it. If not, then it's still all good.

And I do like the "live" feel of the tune.

This song is totally unique as far as I'm concerned. It has everything. I love it all, and that's all I need to say.

This song. Is fucking AWESOME!

And that's all I have to say about that.

Good song Nick...I'm impressed (which doesn't mean a whole lot, actually)

In honest criticism, though, the delay and chorus on your voice threw me a bit. I wouldn't mind hearing the vocal track clean, or at least a bit less on the flange. You seem to have good vocal presence, but it's kinda diminished with the effects processing. Do you pre-amp your mic? There are some quality pre-amps on the market for fairly cheap ($75-$150), which do wonders to clean up vocal tracks and smooth out the overall sound. (the Aphex 204 Aural Exciter is great for final track mixing and cleanup also...it hits market on the 28th Product #181820 at musiciansfriend.com)

Just my opinion. Great song, would like to really hear more...

From the very start I wanted a haunting echo on the vocal track. There's no flange, really... just an echo run through an SGX Nightbass.

Steve wanted a clean track as well, but to be honest... this song was a semi-sequel to an old song of ours called The Haunting and the echo effect was in the cards since day one for me.

I really like the song. Haunting is a good sound. The delay confuses the lyrics some, and I had a hard time following them the whole way through, but I liked the flow and the ultimate timing was great. Perhaps, (and I'm just suggesting here, I'm not trying to stifle your creativity or impose my opinion on you...they're your songs and your music, tell me to fuck off if you want, seriously, I won't mind in the least)...as I was saying, perhaps you should try a chorus instead of delaying so much. The Chorus will give you a good flowing, haunty sound, but leave the overall tonal quality intact. Maybe even adding a Chorus inline with a Flanger might give you even spookier sounds, by setting high resonance and low depth and rate settings.

If you don't like this song, there's a good chance I don't like you.

Sorry I haven't commented in a while...

Now on to business... Wow. Very well done, gents. Nick I really like the vocals in this one and the guitar and bass are great too. This song just might take the top slot for me.
