This is an early mix of the song, but I'll be out of the house a good bit today and wanted to pop it up. This one's heavy. I think Steve did an exceptional job here, and I really like my little bassline too. Check it out:

Fissure Man
Nunziata/Murphy

You live between the cracks
you see what I know
he's reaching out, want to touch someone
and there you go
Cold as death, black as coal
now he owns us all

It's a bloody line, it's a broken line

Fissure Man is in our house, contaminating everyone
Feel his ingenuity, now we are cracking

See the trail disappear like a footstep in the rain
we're so afraid to accept the casualties
We don't know how not to live in fear
Close to the edge, afraid to fall
now he owns us all

It's a bloody line, it's a broken line

Fissure Man is in our house, contaminating everyone
Feel his ingenuity, now we are cracking

Fissure Man is in our house, contaminating everyone
Now he owns us all
Fissure Man is in our house, feel his ingenuity
Now he owns us all
Fissure Man is in our house, now we are cracking
Now he owns us all

Drums, Guitar - Steve Murphy
Bass, Vocals - Nick Nunziata

As an aside, I think if I were to do a slasher type film this is the character I'd use. I like the idea of someone who slips between the cracks, or always exists there. He kind of is always there making suggestions to people, which cause them to go out murderous rampages and whatnot.

Kind of like the devil on your shoulder whispering to you.

When people say they hear voices, they hear the Fissure Man.

As another aside, while the theme of the song is certainly random violence and how we as a society are so paranoid and eager to pin labels on people who are dangerous... the "Fissure Man" thing is also a jab at the horror genre too. The original lyrics were more like a dialogue from a detective but there was a little more overt jab at films like I Know What You Did Last Summer (whose lame villain was a FISHERMAN) and how they hamstrung the genre most of us love deeply.

Anyhow, every once in a while people ask me what a song's about and now you know.

I can't believe how good this turned out, especially after the frustrating evening we spent recording it. It took a long time to get it done, and in the end I was pretty pissed off with it because it was destroying me.

But, Nick rescued it and it has become a really good metal-type song.

Is good.

The bassline telegraphs this song means business and it delivers. I was expecting more of a shout chorus, but I think ultimately that wouldn't fit with the mood of the song. I likes.

Thanks for the comments thus far. I especially like "Is Good".

Very Metallica-esque. By that I mean the music drives me and the vocals leave me uncomfortable in a good way. Hope you take this as a compliment, cause it is. I like the way you guys aren't nailed down to a genre of music. It would work very well in a movie.

Micah made the Metallica comparison last night. I certainly see it. However, I was definitely thinking Billy Gould with the bassline, or at least my wishful interpretation.

Haven't listened to much FNM. Had to look him up to even see who he was. Still whoever your insipration comes from this is good stuff. Wish I had the scratch to buy one (or more) of your CD's. Well Christmas is coming up.

Allow me to recommend "THe All Devouring Beast" as I still take it with me wherever I go. I don't even do that with Dave Matthews Band CD's. I think it's the variety of song styles. There's something for just about every mood.

He's about to have an All Devouring Beast show up at his house. Hope he digs. Thanks for the support, guys.

I wish we were more abstract or less concerned with musicsmanship so that more Chewers would listen.

Where? I checked out the LN and Pckg links from the main page and didn't see them. Course I'm not terribly observant.

This is a good song. I am still new to songs from PKG but I like what I hear.

I really, really dig this one. A lot. Gimme a few more listens and I'll give details, but this is my fave of the new ones. Load-era Metallica/Gould comparison is pretty spot-on.

Just listening now and I like it. Sorry for lack of details but I gotta hit the sack.

Great work guys.

When can we expect the new disc ?

My wife tells me that an All Devouring Beast has arrived and I couldn't be happier. I'll give it a good solid listen over the next couple of days and report back!

This is the first song I've heard (had some little furry creature in the back of my head reminding me some people here had a band) and though I'm not a metal fan per se I like the sound of it.

Giving it a second listen and checking out the band website now.
