Alain has called in a head count for 11. Here's who we have on the brain:

Jennifer
Nick
Steve
Micah
Alain
Justin
Beth
Tom
Andrew

and then we have a few in limbo, so we have seats for 'em. FFG? Last minute bump for Will or Dennis? Whatever happens.

Sorry, still can't make it. I'm going to try like a madman to get back in town in time for the coffee meeting Saturday, though.
Plans changed, I've got to work late tonight so I sadly will not be in attendance.

Steve, happy birthday.

If there is a coffee meeting this saturday, I'll be there..

The dinner went really well, and expensive...

Everyone seemed really satisfied with their food and I know Steve's thrilled, since it was his birthday treat.

That was fun and expensive!

But the food was mmmmmmmmmmm!!

I have a great recommendation now and I also know of two good places we could consider for the next CHUD dinner.

Pizza made the Italian way by a master Italian pizzamaker followed by MSN's choice for the #2 ice cream in the country right here in good ol' ATL.

Plus, we could follow it up at a local improv theater.

Sometime in the summer would be best!

Well not being able to attend I called the restaurant last night and tried to buy a round of drinks for the table. I spoke with two different "managers" but neither one could understand the concept of what I was trying to do. Sorry guys, but I'm glad everyone had a good time.
That was a really great time, I must say. A lot of fun. The food was expensive, but at least it was expensive AND great. I might go for some o' that lobster bisque next time out.

Thanks for thinking of us, God o' Thunder. You were missed. R. Grieco was missed more, but you were missed.

Remember when we had a... community?

When's the last time you tried to organize one of these things?

And ya know, with enough advanced notice, I think I could make the drive for a big ole' Chewer gathering, in case you were thinking about doing it again.

It takes a village.

Or least living close to Atlanta.
A bunch of us just got together on Sat for this one dude's birthday.
I can't really comment on Atlanta, but I tried to organise something in London but no-one could agree when and where to meet up. It became too much of a hassle to organise. It's a shame because I'm basically the only one in my group of friends who is seriously into movies.

Maybe people have got busier as they have gotten older. Real life stuff (busier careers, getting married etc) tends to intrude so people have less time to organise things like this. It sucks, but that's life.

If there's anything you need
All you have to do is say
You knew you satisfy everything in me
We shouldn't waste a single day

So don't stop me falling
It's destiny calling
A power I just can't deny
It's never changing
Can't you hear me, I'm saying
I want you for the rest of my life

Together forever and never to part
Together forever we two
And don't you know
I would move heaven and earth
To be together forever with you

If they ever get you down
There's always something I can do
Because I wouldn't ever wanna see you frown
I'll always do what's best for you

There ain't no mistaking
It's true love we're making
Something to last for all time
It's never changing
Can't you hear me, I'm saying
I want you for the rest of my life

Together forever and never to part
Together forever we two
And don't you know
I would move heaven and earth
To be together forever with you

So don't stop me falling
It's destiny calling
A power I just can't deny
It's never changing
Can't you hear me, I'm saying
I want you for the rest of my life

Together forever and never to part
Together forever we two
And don't you know
I would move heaven and earth
To be together forever with you

Ben Dover, baldy.

I have spent the last couple of days reading a lot of archived CHUD stuff, and while it's obvious that the Sewer Chewers used to be a much tighter group than they are nowadays, I still believe that something like this could be put together, at least regionally.

I am not completely sure of this, but I believe one of the last big CHUD gatherings was in December 2004 at an Irish pub (I cannot recollect the name) in Nick's neck-of-the-woods.

He reserved the upstairs and we all had a good dinner with trivia games, a swag give-a-way, Halo tournaments, etc.

It was just before I moved to SC for a new job and to be roommates with billylove.

He and I have since switched places, as he now resides in the Atlanta area and I am still in SC.

I'd definitely be up for getting together again, but I won't have another full weekend free for at least another 2 weeks and I'll be headed back to GA for holiday time with the family in 3 weeks.

Perhaps we should try to have a large gathering in the spring.

Ha! I just looked at the first post in this thread.

I still have fond memories of that jaunt to Stoney River.

It was UNBELIEVABLE FOOD and we had a grand time.

I've been wanting to go back ever since.

Our next big gathering was at the now-defunct Buckhead Brewery, which was also delish and a fun time with the CHUD crew.

Ah, memories!
This thread not only reminds me of that good time, but that I haven't been to Stoney River in a criminally long time.

I'd love to see these get togethers start up again. I never could make it out to one before.
