The Legend of Zelda

I was bored and I decided to download the theme to The Legend of Zelda... and what do I find? A JOHN WILLIAMS VERSION! Man, I never knew Williams did video games (I found his Super Mario Brothers version as well!). Well, I can't explain how badass it is (just imagine the theme with a full blown-out orchestra behind it), and it really gives me hope that someday someone will come along and do this movie. (Note: get on WinMX or Kazaa right now and download this sucker if you don't already have it)

But, there are a few problems with doing this flick:

-Live Action VS. CGI. Honestly, I think they should make it CGI. I cannot picture anyone as Link other than Link, and if it's young Link, I would die if they got some shitty child actor.

-Comparisons to The Lord of the Rings: When I started to think about the Zelda plot, it's not anything really new. Save a princess, get the Triforce... yada yada... it's all been done before in some way.

-Dungeons: Zelda is famous for it's dungeons and puzzles, but carrying that over to film won't be easy.

-Time Travel: If the Orcaca (SP) of Time is going to be used in the film, it'll make it harder. Time Travel is always a touchy subject in movies.

Well, what do you people think? Can it be done well? Because if it can't, I don't want anyone to even attempt it. I love Zelda too much for it to be shot to hell by someone like Michael Bay or Paul Anderson.

As a tie in to the new Cel-da game scheduled for release this year (hopefully)...if they were to do a Zelda movie, I'd say go the animation route. I remember barely a cartoon version of the game on Saturday morning cartoons.

To attempt a live action Zelda would be suicide due to the backlash from fantasy and video game fans/consumers. People would go on ranting about it being a lame fest like Super Mario Bros or Tomb Raider. As well, too many (including us CHUD) folk would gawk at the mediocre attempt of a studio attempting to cash in on the fantasy/adventure hoopla generated by LOTR.

At least with a cartoon it could be cut some slack. As long as it's not done by Bakshi or Bluth I'll be okay with it.

One last thing, get a descent writer who cares about the material and the story line...I don't want another Spirits Within travesty.

Sorry jabba, I think there's another forum for that kind of question.

Does anyone else want to see this game series made into a movie as much as me? Comeon, I know there are video game nuts out their with opinions on this.

Hey Jabba if you haven't gotten around your current obstacle maybe the answer lies in using the Hookshot. If I'm wrong you could go to IGN's Majora's Mask Guide for additional help.
