Your Dream Movie

No sequels, re-makes, or spin-offs. What is your dream for a movie you would like to see? Who would be in it? If it is an adaptation, what would the be the adapted material? If it is an original idea, what would the pitch be?

For example, my dream project would have to be something like "Good Fellas" meets "Stand By Me". A long, epic movie about high school, America, and friendships. With Steve Buscemi, Ewan McGregor, Christina Ricci, and Billy Bob Thorton as teachers, Kenny Branaugh as the principal and Natalie Portman, Elijah Wood, Tobey Maguire, and Frankie Muniz as students. Set to a roaring 80's soundtrack in that time period.

I'm not saying mine in fear that someone will steal my idea. I'm greedy that way.

Gates Of Fire, done right. With Michael Mann directing from a script by himself and the book's author, Stephen Pressfield.

A great big sweeping epic that clocks in at around 3 hours, complete with intense battle sequences that would send Braveheart packing.

Combine it with a cast of greats, perhaps including George Clooney, Michael Douglas, Russell Crowe (who would be perfect, had he not already done Gladiator). However, this movie would probably work better with a cast of unknowns who can actually ACT, but it could be awesome.

Also of importance is the musical score. As long as Trevor Rabin, Danny Elfman or James Horner (who used to be good) doesn't do it, I'm fine with most anyone else. Maybe Jerry Goldsmith could hammer out another classic score, or relative "newcomers" such as Hans Zimmer or Howard Shore could do it justice. It would need a powerful score like the ones Miklos Rozsa (El Cid) and Ernest Gold (Exodus) used to write. John Williams would have been a perfect choice 20 years ago, but I just don't think he has it in him anymore.

I really want to see this movie, because the book is so wonderful it deserves to be told by a writer and director who know what their doing. And with the amount of preparation and research Mann puts into his projects, I think he would be a perfect choice for director.

An R-rated highschool comedy starring the Olsen Twins, and Monica Bellucci as the voluptuous Social Studies teacher who sleeps with her students.

I agree with Cheese Biscuits, at least as far as original ideas go.

One film I would love to see made that alas never will be is Monty Python's The Odyssey. The episodic nature of the story fits their sketch style perfectly, but with Graham Chapman gone, there's absolutely no point in even wishing to see this happen.

An unflinching Hellblazer movie with an Englishman in the lead (Nic Cage? Brrrr...)

Really dark, but could be a great adult franchise (if that isn't a contradiciton in terms...).

Peace.

Actually, the latest Hellblazer rumors have <a href="http://us.imdb.com/Name?Bettany,+Paul" target="_blank">Paul Bettany</a> as the lead canidate.
Hell fucking yes.

And he was the best thing in A Beautiful Mind, if you ask me.

Russell Crowe was the best thing about A Beautiful Mind. He deserved the Oscar, though Denzel was the right person to win at that time in history. Even though Training Day was a worthless, steaming, flaming pile of dog crap that I couldn't even get through.

If Chris Cunningham would quit screwing around making commercials and do something with that Neuromancer script he wrote with Gibson several years ago, it just might be my dream movie. I think he's clearly a very gifted director from the videos of his that I've seen... I think it could really be incredible if they got the right cast.

Agreed 100%

a note or two
Denzel DID deserve the oscar - even more so then he did for the Huricane
and I DON'T think Crowe was better in A Beautiful Mind - but that is like asking who is a better composer Beethover or Motzart. BOTH were amazing.

as for adaptations? how about a cross between Alice In Wonderland and the life story of Lewis Carrol?
or The Book of Job would be a good movie - if done by a GOOD director.
How about David Lynch doing a movie about the biblical character Lot and his daughters for something REALLY twisted.
I always wanted to see a movie written by Steven King and directed by David Lynch.

my somewhat original idea i actually wrote (and am in the process of continuing the story in various sequals)
There is no REAL original story anyways - not with only 30 or 40 possible stories that can be written.

I'd prefer Tim Roth, but he looks good too. Alan Moore based the character on Sting, at least in the looks department, so this is a sound choice.

A female serial killer movie . Not just one of those crappy black widow arsenic things but an actual female serial killer who is every bit as twisted and sick as gacy or ted bundy. This isnt a feminism thing I would just love to see something that wierd.

Not really a dream movie per se. But I would like to see an animated version of the Myth books by Alan Dean Foster as long as Foglio was involved.

Yeah me and a friend were trying to think of a movie that features an actual cool female serial killer (along the lines of jason voorhees for example), closest thing to it is probably the girl from the Ring movies (reiko is it?)!
I know! The only female killers you can find just poison their husbands for money or kill one boyfriend for cheating on them. Its very very dull. If anyone knows of a movie like that already in existence somewhere (besides ring) i'd really like to know. wink

A movie based on "The Authority" comic books.
