I got my new keyboard, and this is the first love child spewed from its loins. This is an interesting, mellow tune with a little techno kick. It's unlike anything we've ever done.

MENTAL PARADISE (lyrics - N.N. music - N.N. S.M.)

Our heartbeats were born at a distance
so now you're taking light and trading it for darkness
weigh the consequences and you'll know the score
it's you and me against the world

Ageless and bonded, we are free again
no law to bind us in our mental paradise

No claims to make, the time is an afterthought
a little closer to Heaven but further to fall
weigh the consequences and you'll know the score
it's you and me against the world

Ageless and bonded, we are free again
no law to bind us in our mental paradise

By the way, this is an early mix, just wanted to get it up here.

Maybe it's my delerium as a result of being woken up by a early morning coughing fit, but indeed....I'm amazed.

I never figured you guys for the Yes/Blue Oyster Cult/Emerson Lake & Palmer types.

Thanks Fella! This is bizarre tune and wasn't sure how folks would respond. I uploaded a better mix just now, btw.

Hehe, you're so right Micah. Although, I have to add something else. And hold on for this. Here goes:

Roger Daltrey once said that there is no band that you can listen to and say, "Oh that sounds like The Who."

He was right.

But I think this song would fit right in on a Who record. Especially that intro. Perhaps the main part leans more toward a Pink Floyd or a ELP kind of sound, but that intro is all Who.

excellent.

or don't.

This song ended right as I thought it was getting started. I liked the John Carpenter-ish sounding intro, but I liked the music at the end a lot. I was hoping that would lead into some kind of extra flourish at the end instead of a fade out.

Song of the Day.

Here's a little background on the lyrics, for those who care. The song is told from the perspective of a child molestor trying to justify his motives.

That is all.

Nick,

I like that song a lot. Was that all done on a keyboard? I liked how the music kind of "exploded" at around the 45 second mark. Also, the lyrics are really good.

Thanks for the comments. Steve played guitar on it, so it's not all keyboard.
