WE ARE, the song from The Lucky Nightsticks!

We Are (words - N.N. music - N.N..) 2:47

We are open, we are broken
We are chosen, we're abandoned
We are stranded, we are always reprimanded
Just be smarter and bolder
Wait until you're much older
We can be golden... if we are

I have something to tell you
The system has broken down
Don't think you always have to think

Love of God!

Head's spinning from the list of rules
To get through life, so obvious
Why do we always overthink?

I don't know!

We are open, we are broken
We are chosen, we're abandoned
We are stranded, we are always reprimanded
Just be smarter and bolder
Wait until you're much older
We can be golden... if we are

We all want to be miracles
Just to try to light your world up and make you recognize
We're compatible, adaptable, interchangeable
And we say so much, too much... just to feel we matter

And there's room for all of us

We feel the need to have a voice
Even at times when there's nothing on our minds to say
But we fill the air with opinions, positions, intermissions
And we say too much, too much... just to feel we matter

And there's room for all of us

Lend me an ear, no lend me some SHUT UP!
The more you talk, the deeper the pit is dug
Don't think you always have to talk

Love of God!

Head's spinning from the dialogue
Building you to what you want to be
Don't need to tell me everything

I already know!

We are open, we are chosen
We are broken, we're abandoned
We are stranded, we are always reprimanded
Just be smarter and bolder
Wait until you're much older
You can be golden... but not unless you are

Very funkadelic, Nick. And I love the lyrics!

This may be my favorite of the new tunes. I love it because it is not the balls.

You know what? The song is great. ESPECIALLY the last half. Nice going, folks.

There's no way to say this politely, but I'm surprised by how good this turned out.

When I heard the instrumental version of this, I could only think of Rush' "Subdivisions," but now that's been completely changed.

I think the lyrics and vocals make this song. I like it when The Nightsticks get serious.

Top notch melancholy 80's style pop.

Thank guys, awfully appreciated. I think this one came out nice.

Love the song, it's really cool, but I have one question.

Is there a reason you always use voice mods? I don't know anything else to call it, as I know nothing about music, really. But sometimes, I think just your voice alone without any modifications would kick ass.

But whatever you guys think is right....because the songs kick ass either way.

Well, I'm not gifted like some are, so I enjoy tinkering. That said, I'm making an effort to include variety and diversity when i can.

Patience.. Patience...

I've actually downloaded all the Nightstick and Package songs linked to from this year and I'm listening to all of them here at work.

(Side Note: Working on a Sunday blows.)

I'm letting them all sink in then I'll post something.

I like this tune. Quite different, especially for a Nightsticks song.

I also love the lyrics, Nick. Among your best. What was your inspiration?

Actually, a lot of things... not the least of which are a few people I know who are all about talk and little else.

I love this. This is great. I wish this would come on the damn radio.

I didn't write enough.

Nick's vocals on this puppy are fantastic. It's energetic and loud, but so much more accessible than the throat-ripping stuff in Package. Tops. The guitar layers are amazingly mixed. All of it really. I am as impressed by the musicianship on this one as I am the production. It's a great sound and a great song.

I'm a little late in responding to this, but I really like the flow of this song. It's a bit more gutsy starting the song out with the chorus, but I like it.

As for the vocal thing Verbal mentioned, I think you should go clean on one take of this song, Nick. You seem to have a good voice, but are covering it up with effects (like I was talking about on the Package song) Just an opinion...take it for what it is.
