I'm able to accept many of the events of this book as good, popcorn fun until the ending. The whole Fantastic Voyage element of the shark's death just destroys this tale for me.

Ok, so, yeah, this book sucked. But, I thought it sucked in a B-movie kind of way. Sucky, but charming and fun. As I've said before, this will make much bank when/if it hits theaters because, let's face it, everybody loves shark movies. And when you throw in a shark that would eat JAWS as an appetizer...people are really going to love this shark movie.

Even giving this book that much latitude, I still absolutely abhored the ending. WTF? The guy's crawling around in the belly of the beast? Uh...no. That was just lame, IMO.

What did you guys think of this literary masterpiece?

Ok - I enjoyed the book. It was fun and entertaining. I would dig seeing this as a movie - I love shark movies.

Alas - the ending was just a little too over the top for me..and I will buy just about anything.

This book SUCKED. Big time. There's two hours of my life that I will never have back.

If this is made into a movie, I'll go see it, but it's gonna SUCK. Just like this piece of mindless, archaic, dumbass crap.

I say we read a GOOD book next. Maybe one of the classics, with lots of big words?

Steinbeck?
Hemmingway?
Hugo?
Chabon?
Shakespeare?
Brooks?
Tolkien?
Card?
Ellison?
Bradbury?
Lovecraft?
Stoker?
King?
Michner?
Rutherford?
Atwood?
Delany?
Anyone?
Anyone?

Of course, if we want to continue with the mindless popcorn book that would make a good movie trend, we should read ANGELS & DEMONS. That book is amazingly fun, scary, and thrilling all in one.

Peace.

Sorry I haven't been participating in the discussion guys. We are in the process of moving, so my away from the office time is spent packing and coordinating. Pain in the ass.

I do want this to continue.

I promise participation from myself next time.

A few years back I read a similar book by Charles Wilson called "Extinct." I, too, love shark movies and nabbed this particular book because it had one of those red starbursts on the cover that read: "Coming soon to NBC TV!" Either it never materialized, or I missed it.

BTW, that book was about as good as MEG. Take that as you will...
