I'm doing research on a novel and I would like your assistance looking for materials. If you know any good websites or books that contain information on the following material, please post them here:

Asian history
Western European history
African history
British/Irish history, especially that of the Dark Ages and the Victorian eras
Native American history
Eastern European history

If you are looking for more recent (circa 1945) history, there is an excellent book about Japan and the results of World War II called Embracing Defeat by John Dower. It isn't the most entertaining thing out there, but it has some very good information.

Try these for starters:

(African) Shadow of the Sun-Ryszard Kapuscinski

East Asia: A New History

Not an Irish history as a whole, but my one of my favorite history books is:

The IRA- Tim Coogan

The first two you could probably find at your library, plus they are pretty expensive. So buying them might be out of the question, but everyone needs to read The IRA. It's just a great book.

Now go study, and I'll have more for you next class, Rath.
