National Novel Writing Month - Page 2

Where the hell would you have to live that the weather in November is worse than, say, January? Or February, but that would only give you 28 days.

I realized the other day that a "short" story I was working on is actually turning out to be twice as long as I'd expected. So maybe I'll torpedo any notion of pithiness and pretend there's enough story there for a novel.

I've discovered the opposite; the story I'm doing for NaNoWriMo will work much better as a short story, but I'll write it as a novel and pare it down.

I say this every year going into the second week.

Man, fuck whomever decided to hold this contest in November, rather than say ... March or July, when ain't nobody doin' nuffin'.

Just barely staying ahead of the wordcount, but I'm over 10k and still going strong. Camping trip this weekend, but I've got a plan how to keep going. I must, must get ahead somehow over the next week because then comes the trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Yeesh.

With the utmost sincerity: I wish all of you the best of luck in completing a novel this month. I'm going to have my own version of NaNoWriMo in January or February.

My sole consolation at this point is that someone, somewhere, at some point in time wrote something worse than the 1,667 words I just committed to disk space. Probably.

Has anyone else kept up with this? If so, congratulations.

I have fallen far, far behind, but not so much that I won't be able to hit the word count goal on my modified deadline of Dec. 9 (started Nov. 10) with a little perseverance.

NOPE. I knew it was gonna derail, but fuuuuuck. At least I've got ideas and such down on paper now, which is more than I had when I started.

Same here, actually. I'm hoping to iron some of these out sometime in February or so when I actually HAVE TIME to write.

So I did it somehow. Cracked 50k right at the very last second, despite a ridiculously busy month. Anyone else actually cross the finish line?

Congratulations!

I will finish on my modified Target of 12/10 if I can keep up with my pace of 3,000 words a night. It hasn't been too difficult so far.

Didn't do it, but I did start writing a novel that I've stuck with beyond the intial five pages or so.

No. Hell no. This was the busiest month ever.

I'm going to do it unofficially in January.
