Half past a monkey's ass...

Such is the sad state of film at the halfway point of 2001. I haven't sat my ass in a theatre seat all that much this year and there's a reason: Most of it has been unremarkable shite.

I've only seen three movies that I would consider standouts: Memento, Requiem For A Dream and A.I.

What is your assessment?

I liked Moulin Rouge and Kiss of the Dragon.

It would seem that the year has sucked so far, especially this summer which has yet to yield a really big fun movie. But here are my favorites thus far.

1.Moulin Rouge
2.A.I.
3.Memento
4.Snatch
5.The Score
6.The Pledge
7.Pearl Harbor
8.Hannibal
9.Enemy at the Gates
10.A Knight's Tale

I agree... 2001 not so hot, so far...

1. A.I.
2. Moulin Rouge
3. Shrek
4. Atlantis
5. Enemy At The Gates

(Technically not qualified, but would be up there: Snatch, Memento, The Gift)

Perhaps it's because the film was TECHNICALLY first released in 2000. I know it's frustrating, because the film went into wide release almost halfway into 2001...

I was not aware that the Academy had already ruled MEMENTO as eligible for this year. I thought that was still up for debate?
